1925, post WW1. A sour married couple of Americans spend a few days in a lonely out-of-season hotel on the Mediterranean coast. Most of the time, the husband reads in bed, the wife kills time looking at the street from the window while it rains. The woman sees a cat trying to protect itself from the rain under a green table in the garden and decides to go down to rescue her and her life will never be the same again.
