“THE PAIN WILL SET YOU FREE” Synopsis by H. Michael Dougal “THE PAIN WILL SET YOU FREE” is a detective horror/thriller set in present day San Francisco. A "Dirty Harry" meets "Ghost" type of murder and suspense. Detective Austin Steele and his beautiful wife, Sara are enjoying the summer afternoon cruising around the San Francisco bay when the solitude is interrupted by a special news bulletin. A body has washed ashore at Golden Gate Park. Austin and Sara have been discussing having a baby while spending the weekend on their sail boat. Austin's partner Detective David Nash, calls requesting Austin to meet him at the crime scene. The body has been gutted like a deer at hunting season, and the mystery begins. A missing persons call soon exposes a pattern of a serial killer dating back to over twenty years, as more bodies are discovered. What could have driven someone to the sadistic torturing of both, humans and animals? Will the pain set you free? Austin doesn't think so, after Sara is killed on the way to visit her sister. "THE PAIN WILL SET YOU FREE" relates to the killer torturing his victims and Austin's pain for the lose of his wife. Austin, finding the pain to great, tries to kill himself only to be stopped by the ghost of Sara. Sara helps Austin deal with his pain and track down a sniper that is distraught over loosing his house, Randy Peters, a police sergeant suspected of murdering his ex-wife and the serial killer, Rodney Ossane, before he can kill again. Rodney strikes to close to home as Austin has to save Katherine, his neighbor that is being stocked.
