THE ROAD TO FORGIVENES

THE ROAD TO FORGIVENES
By Annelise Gaparasi

GENRE: Family, Drama
LOGLINE:

A father searching for redemption and a daughter trying to reclaim her life cross paths in a story about healing and second chances.

SYNOPSIS:

In the quiet town of Baker City, Oregon, Pastor Paul Floyd tries to lead his congregation with conviction. At home, he's struggling. Ever since his wife Maria died, Paul has leaned into rigid rules and stern discipline, convinced it’s the only way to keep his teenage daughter, Allison, safe. But Allison, sixteen and still reeling from the loss of her mother, feels stifled and unseen. Their relationship is a strained mix of silence, arguments, and missed chances to connect. Things come to a breaking point one Sunday after church. Paul, pushed to the edge by Allison’s growing defiance, loses his temper and hits her. Shaken and heartbroken, Allison decides she’s had enough. She leaves for Texas to live with her aunt Carol, seeking space to heal and finally breathe.

In Texas, Allison begins to rediscover herself. Carol’s home offers a calm she’s never known, room for art, for dreams, for feeling like a kid again. But even with this newfound peace, the wounds from her father run deep. Meanwhile, back in Oregon, Paul is left alone with regret. As he comes to terms with the damage he’s done, he begins to see how fear and grief turned him into someone he never meant to be. Then Paul is diagnosed with kidney failure. The news forces him to reckon with his past and what little time he may have left. Hoping for a second chance, he tries to reconnect with Allison, but she keeps her distance. It’s only when he unexpectedly shows up at one of her private showings that they finally come face to face again. The meeting leads to a raw and emotional confrontation.

With the clock ticking and old wounds still fresh, Paul opens up in a way he never has. He admits his failures and asks for her forgiveness. Not with pressure, but with honesty. Slowly, with the help of Carol and the memory of her mother, Allison begins to open the door to healing. The story reaches its emotional high point when Paul receives a kidney from an anonymous donor. Later, it is revealed that Allison was the donor. His health begins to improve. And though nothing is perfect, there’s a quiet hope between father and daughter. As Allison prepares to take her next step as an artist, Paul stands beside her: not as a pastor or authority figure, but as a dad trying to do better.
