SYNOPSIS:

COMMITMENT ISSUES is a contemporary romantic comedy set in Atlanta that explores ambition, vulnerability, and the courage it takes to choose love.

TONI REED, the self-proclaimed “baddest attorney in the ATL,” has sworn off relationships after a devastating breakup with her ex-fiancé, Bryant Montgomery. To Toni, love is a distraction—and she refuses to let anything derail her climb to the top. Her focus is closing the most lucrative deal her firm has seen all year. But when Bryant reemerges and undercuts her hard work—ultimately taking over the deal she built from the ground up—Toni is forced to confront the emotional walls she’s carefully constructed.

Across town, Toni’s younger sister JAMIE REED, a passionate medical resident, believes in love without hesitation. She and her high school sweetheart, ELLIS GRAHAM, an inner-city teacher with a quiet strength, are moving into their first home together. For Jamie, it’s the natural next step toward marriage. For Ellis, whose parents’ bitter divorce left lasting scars, forever feels far more fragile. Though he loves Jamie deeply, the weight of commitment terrifies him.

During a celebratory karaoke night with friends, Toni meets TRENT MAXWELL, a charismatic musician leading the band for the bar’s popular Soul Sundays. Their chemistry is immediate and undeniable—but Toni shuts him down before it can begin. Trent, however, isn’t easily discouraged.

As Jamie grows increasingly hopeful that Ellis will propose—culminating in a painfully public misunderstanding at their housewarming party—cracks begin to form in their decade-long relationship. Ellis’s hesitation leaves Jamie questioning how long love can survive without certainty.

Meanwhile, Trent persistently pursues Toni, challenging her cynicism with patience, humor, and sincerity. Just as she begins to lower her guard, professional betrayal and the sudden appearance of Trent’s ex threaten to send her retreating once again. But through honest conversations and emotional reckoning, Toni must decide whether protecting her heart is worth losing the possibility of something real.

In the end, both sisters are forced to confront the same truth from opposite ends: love requires risk. Ellis finally faces his fear of repeating his parents’ mistakes and delivers a heartfelt proposal to Jamie. Toni, choosing vulnerability over control, commits to a future with Trent that feels as fearless as it does uncertain.

As one couple moves toward marriage and another toward new beginnings, even their friends Angie and Mark may discover that love has a way of showing up when you least expect it.
