When the dead body of a genius programmer is found, superhuman-empathetic agent Jona and rookie cop Patrick must solve the mystery of an apparent suicide in a race against the ticking clock; as they overcome assassination attempts and their own inner demons, more innocent lives hang in the balance.

SYNOPSIS:

Pilot:

A young woman who serves in the military is undergoing experimental brain cancer surgery when the high-tech scalpel fails. Only the backup scalpel can save her life - but its software has been lost. Simultaneously, Jona tries to enter the scene of an apparent suicide. Patrick, who doesn’t recognize her as a cop, tries to stop her, but she sweeps past him, showing her senior ID and disparaging him as a rookie. The dead man happens to be the developer who wrote the scalpel software.

Stephen gets assigned by the Secretary of State (who is the father of the brain surgery patient) to restore the lost software by any means. Meanwhile, Jona uses her innate skill and supernatural powers to follow leads and dead ends, soon figuring out that the developer really did commit suicide. His wife and newborn have been kidnapped. His intent was to free them by rendering himself useless to the kidnappers who were coercing him to leak some military source code (codename Onyx 5).

The captive wife is now the only hope of retrieving the scalpel software from her late husband’s personal laptop, pushing the Secretary of State to the brink of giving in to the kidnapers’ demands.

Jona's hunt intensifies when she gets into a fierce fight with some of the kidnappers but is defeated as her powers backfire. Patrick, who has followed her out of curiosity and offended pride, saves her life and the two partner up to beat the ticking clock. Jona has to use her powers again - revealing them to Patrick - and they eventually save the woman and the newborn. With the wife’s password, Stephen is able to restore the backup scalpel just in time for the surgeon to save the patient’s life.

In the end, Patrick asks to team up with lone wolf Jona regularly, but she doesn’t approve this - yet.
