Kristin Iris Johnson

Kristin Iris Johnson was born in Chicago, IL. She is a Film Producer, Screenwriter, and the VP of Development and Production at MegaMind Media. Having a lifelong gift for storytelling Kristin attended Columbia College Chicago where she studied both Film/Video and Fiction Writing before getting her BA in Fiction Writing in 2008. She is creator and writer (with co-creator Serena M. Lee) of the hit supernatural TV series Wicked City (2022) starring Vanessa Bell Calloway, Shaquita Smith, and Rhonda Morman. Kristin and Serena also host a companion podcast to the series called Wicked Queens: A Wicked City Podcast, where they dive deeper into the story and the making of the show. Kristin produced the feature film Trophy Wife (2022); and is a producer for the feature film biopic The First Lady of BMF: The Tonesa Welch Story as well as the feature films Black Girl, Erupted (2023), The Sound of Christmas (2022); The Deadly Getaway (2023); Holiday Heartbreak (2020); The Available Wife (2019) and more; working both in the story development and production of these films. She co-produced two very important anthology series with BET Her that highlight mental health challenges and breast cancer awareness in the Black community: BET Her Presents: The Couch and BET Her Presents: The Waiting Room. She is currently developing several feature films and television series with MegaMind Media and several networks.

Kristin seeks to expand how Black and other underrepresented people are depicted in film and TV. To that end, she founded the Black Screenwriter Alliance, a membership community to help Black screenwriters connect and develop their scripts and writing careers so they can make an impact in the industry. She believes that as Black writers and creators we are the wild fruit grown from the seeds of our ancestors; paving new ground, igniting change, and inspiring others through the stories we tell.
