James Rhodes

With close to 25 years of experience, I am a bit of a utility player when it comes to film production and post production. I would say my strengths fall more in the realm of post production. I started my career in post production sound working main in the commercial industry working on national and regional ads for clients like The Richards Group, Temerlin McClain (which later became TM Advertising), Publicis, and Charlie Uniform Tango.

Upon moving to Los Angeles, I started my own boutique facility aimed at helping independent filmmakers. Offering a full small budget end to end solution. From camera and lighting rentals all the way to non linear editing bags, and sound mixing studio. Sometimes I just provided facilities, other times I supported filmmakers as a DP, Editor, Colorist, Sound Designer, and Sound Mixer. Whatever was needed.

After 7 years I made the decision to leave Los Angeles and pursue my passion for documentary photography focusing on humanitarian crises in Haiti, Bangladesh, and domestically on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. I traveled for 6 months out of the year for 4 consecutive years and dove headfirst into a life of documentation and service to various communities. For example in Pine Ridge in connection with National Geographic and the SuAnne Big Crow Boys and Girls Club, I taught young men and women photography and how to tell stories with images.
