WEDDED BLISS
By Sidney Reed

GENRE: Drama
LOGLINE:

A middle-aged woman redefines her marriage vows when her husband's girlfriend leaves a message on the wrong cell phone.

SYNOPSIS:

Sharae and her husband of twenty years, Eli, have had their relationship tested before. With their anniversary in less than a week, Sharae has something special planned. Their daughter will be staying the night with family, leaving the house all to themselves. When Sharae checks her voicemail, it’s from a number she doesn’t recognize. The message ends with how the woman couldn’t wait to come over, spend the night, and tickle the heart shaped scar on his hip. That’s when Sharae’s heart stops. Eli, her husband, has a scar like that.

With Eli still at work, Sharae has some time to pull herself together. The phone rings and she checks the number; the doctor’s office. Eli has brought more than other women into their home. He's also brought HIV home. Sharae concocts a plan and has her daughter leave earlier, while telling her husband that the timeline had changed. Unaware that his girlfriend's, Nicki had called and her number has changed, Eli leaves her a message to meet him at a hotel. He tells his wife that he has a business trip.

Eli leaves and Nicki arrives, thinking their original date is still on. She arrives to see the table set with delicious food, candles lit, and soft music playing. She samples the wine and sits, awaiting Eli. Soon drowsy, she nods off, not realizing Sharae has drugged her drink and is watching her. As soon as Nicki passes out, Sharae ties her to the chair and sets about extracting information using whatever she finds in the kitchen as motivation.

Eli comes home, frustrated that Nicki wasn't at the hotel. He looks in and sees a woman sitting at the table, with wine. He assumes it's Sharae with a pre-Anniversary dinner. He's very much mistaken when he comes in and discovers Nicki, tied and beaten. Sharae knocks him unconscious and gets creative with her interrogation techniques. As the sun rises, sirens are heard in the background, drawn by reports of shots fired.
