After years of being event and later film producer, in 2019 I debuted as a screenwriter with the animation feature Jacob, Mimmi and the Talking Dogs. Since then, writing for film has become my main occupation although I also still work as a film producer. Currently, I develop two scripts for feature length films for young audiences, work as script editor and as a producer work on a documentary film set in a women’s prison. Apart from that, I am a member of a documentary film expert panel at the National Film Centre of Latvia and a chairperson of the Screenwriters’ Guild of Latvia.
Jacob, Mimmi and the Talking Dogs
by Atom Art / Edmunds Jansons
screenwriter Jacob – an imagination-rich boy from the city center - has to spend a week with his know-it-all girl cousin Mimmi and ex-pirate uncle Eagle in a suburb of the city. As soon as Jacob arrives, he discovers a previously unknown world. It turns out that the local park is about to be transformed into new skyscrapers. And what is more unusual - the local dogs can talk. Jacob, Mimmi and the pack of talking dogs decide to stop the development.
The script is based on the book, Dogworn, by the Latvian writer Luīze Pastore.
