About Peter

Peter Dörfler was born in Aschaffenburg in 1967. He studied Visual Communication at the University of Applied Sciences for Design in Offenbach graduating in 1995. He then worked as a cameraman for documentaries and films making more than 60 music clips and commercials respectively. In 2006, he got his first job as director for the documentary “Der Panzerknacker” (ARTE, grand format). His second documentary “Achterbahn” had its premiere at the Berlinale in 2009 and was awarded the Preis der Deutschen Filmkritik and shown in cinemas throughout Germany. “The Big Eden” followed in 2011. This film was also shown at the Berlinale and cinemas and was nominated for the German Film Prize in 2012. The documentaries “Sonntagsmörder”, “Karl Marx und seine Erben” and the documentary drama “Dutschke, Schüsse von Rechts” followed - all three for the Erste Deutsche Fernsehen (The First German TV channel). In addition, as Director/D.o.P he has created numerous commercials (Sparkasse, Sachsen Anhalt, Nurofen, Coke etc.) and, as an author, he published the biography “Rolf Eden, immer nur Glück gehabt”. Peter Dörfler lives with his family in Berlin.
