SYNOPSIS:

After many years of endless wars, a high-tech system designed to protect the world’s environment by counteracting climate change catastrophically fails. This only serves to accelerate humanity’s demise and alter the earth’s atmosphere to become a harsh desert climate incapable of sustaining life. In an attempt to survive into the aftermath, Omni-Tech Corporation, the powerful conglomerate that is responsible for this catastrophe, preserves their wealthiest and most intelligent in a sophisticated bunker where they proceed to engage in an experiment that imbues a young girl with the power and responsibility to carry on the human existence. This underground habitat is called, Kageno, “A Place of Hope.” In the end of days the bunker collapses killing all but one test subject, the only surviving prototype: VIRGO.. Year 2119 –Forty-something Julian SHAIDE stares at a tattered photo taken ten years earlier of his wife and daughter while holding a pistol to his head. With his finger on the trigger, he has a flashback to the events that got him here. TEN YEARS EARLIER – In an attempt to preempt the oncoming apocalypse, Omni-Tech scientists risk the lives of twelve, ten-year old girls selected from its employees’ families in a final effort to save humankind. Virgo, our heroine, is the young daughter of the chief of security, officer Shaide. The experiment is named, “The Zodiac Project” for each prototype is named for a sign of the Zodiac. Already ten years into the unproven project, but only half way through testing, each female subject is injected with biogenetic materials, which will allow them to survive a post-apocalyptic world due to their new superior powers and resilience. In the final destructive hours on earth, the stasis facility where Virgo and the other eleven prototypes are contained in stasis pods, sustains a direct hit from an unknown explosive that destroys all of them, except for Virgo. Shaide also survives the collapse at Kageno, however, his wife and many others do not. TEN YEARS LATER – Virgo awakens from her slumber without any awareness of where she comes from or what has happened. The infusion process is incomplete with one final necessary step left: the final injection of the Zodiac isotope to complete the acclamation process, but only her father Shaide is aware of this. Shaide, with the gun still fixed to his temple, receives the message he’s been waiting for through a tracking device on his cybernetic arm. Virgo has survived incubation. He lowers the gun. Now, he has a reason to live. Save Virgo. Save the world. In his search for his now twenty-year-old daughter, Shaide arrives at the stasis facility only to find Virgo’s footsteps headed out into the wasteland. Virgo, hungry and confused, encounters a gang of bandits, but is smart enough to cover her hair and mask her gender as a woman among the men. As she eats the “stew” offered, she realizes they’re hunting women on orders from a leader they call, THE REVEREND. This ex-death row inmate and tyrant has taken control of a place known as The Wall that surrounds an area 30 miles across where it is rumored the legendary Kageno facility is thought to exist. Finding Kageno and its rich resources is also on the Reverend’s list. Once Shaide finds Virgo, he sees for the first time some of the powers his daughter has been given. But his awe is superseded by conflicting feelings of responsibility and guilt. Reminded of his love for Virgo, he offers what he can: food, a fire, and a small place for safety, but does not reveal his connection to her. When Virgo begins experiencing headaches, a sign her biogenetic process is incomplete, Shaide knows he only has four days to find the lost isotope solution thought to be somewhere in the destruction of Kageno—or Virgo will die. Shaide isn’t the only one interested in Virgo. With the news of Virgo’s arrival and her power to heal, The Reverend doubles his search efforts, as he needs her to cure his own ailment: cancer. His informant is Daniel COLT, Shaide’s former boss also a survivor of Kageno. His knowledge of Virgo’s medical adaptations is just as extensive as anyone’s and he uses this knowledge to his advantage in this new lawless world. With a rough plan to get to Kageno, Shaide elicits the help of Dr. Joseph KARDE, the only Kageno scientist to make it out alive. A long-time friend, Karde now operates a trading outpost near The Wall and knows the area well. Karde has insider’s information about the Reverend and his men including where the isotope solution can be found, but withholds it for his own personal reasons. Before the plan can be executed, Colt ambushes and captures Virgo and Shaide is wounded and left for dead. Colt, too takes a bullet and by the time he and his men reach The Wall, Colt is near death. At that moment, Virgo instinctually places her hands on Colt’s wound and he is healed. Virgo as well as the others is amazed at what she has been engineered to do. Karde finds the badly injured Shaide and nurses him back to health. In the process, he admits that he has had the cure for Virgo all along, yet held it back. He confesses his belief that in letting Virgo live, along with her secrets, would be dangerous in the wrong hands. However, realizing the love and concern Shaide has for his daughter, and the importance of her impact on the future of humankind’s survival, he decides to help recover Virgo. During the rescue attempt, Shaide is cornered and is forced to surrender to save his daughter. This momentary distraction allows Virgo to escape. Karde is killed and Shaide is exiled to “The Zone” just beyond the confines of The Wall where terrible creatures reside and Shaide doesn’t stand a chance. Virgo finds Shaide just as he’s attacked and saves him. Retreating to a nearby shelter, Virgo confronts her father about her past and reveals her newfound hatred for humanity and how “they don’t deserve saving.” In response, Shaide blindsides her by expressing his love for her, and admits his neglect and poor judgment and concedes to humanity’s downfall. He explains to her that she has a higher purpose. That she was created to save the world. Finally understanding, Virgo changes her viewpoint and heals her father, and then vows to destroy the Reverend and every last bit of evil on the planet. During the final confrontation with the Reverend, Virgo discovers she has another power; the power to take life as well. The Reverend gets the jump on Shaide and holds him hostage forcing her to heal him. She instead takes his life away. She places her hands on him and the Reverend’s skin strips itself from his body like a leprous plague and he crumples into a pitted corpse. Colt appears, surviving the car crash, and uses a weapon he’s developed especially designed to combat Virgo, to gain the upper hand. In one final struggle to save Virgo, Shaide tackles Colt and the two of them topple into a deep pit to their deaths. Virgo is saved and finally has the isotope solution. ONE YEAR LATER – Virgo walks along the road and sees a new blossoming flower springs from the ground, reaching for the sky. She walks toward a small encampment that she’s built and as she turns and the greatest of her powers is revealed: she is pregnant. The Wall and The Zone are in the distance behind her. Ahead of her lies the future of humanity.
