Matt McVay is from the four-stoplight town of Brookings, on the southern coast of Oregon, where he grew up bailing hay, digging ditches, canning tuna and birthing calves. Following critical acclaim for his portrayal of “Oliver” in his elementary school performance of Oliver! he went on to study Broadcast Journalism and Film at Pacific Lutheran University.
Matt soon became the in-house videographer and on-camera reporter for The Olympian newspaper in Washington state. After two years of staving off the slow and painful death of print, he finally took an agreeable severance package and decided it was time to move to Los Angeles and become an actor.
From there, the work really started rolling in; he can be seen falling over in several episodes of the History Channel’s Deadliest Warrior, and his backlit silhouette can easily be made out in Transformers 3.
Besides writing and producing, he can currently be seen onstage as “Host #2” of the Special Effects Show at Universal Studios.
Matt is a rabid reader of comic books and blogs about comic books. In addition to buying discounted holiday candy at the drugstore, he also enjoys drive-thu hamburgers and falling asleep to reruns of 30 Rock.
