About Kyle

My passion for filmmaking began in high school in South Burlington, Vermont, through classes taught by my mentor, Tim Comolli. I pursued my passion at Ithaca College as a Cinema & Photography major. Although my first love was editing, cinematography soon became top priority. Because I began as an editor and still continue to edit regularly, I have a strong sense of how to put a scene together -- something that is absolutely essential for a cinematographer.

Although I began my career with the goal to work primarily on fiction films, I have found that I enjoy everything from music videos to feature documentaries. Working under Emmy winning cinematographers Andrew Young and Buddy Squires, A.S.C. on several PBS documentaries--and seeing the beautiful images they have been able to create--has inspired me to strive for the same, regardless of genre.

I'm a verified gear head, and am always looking for the newest tool to add to my kit. I have a firm foundation in traditional cinematic techniques, but I also love to experiment with new methods and equipment to produce the most interesting images possible. My goal is to never have to say to a director, "We can't do that." I want to realize every crazy idea to its fullest potential.
