I have written an account about my mother who went into an NHS hospital for a hip operation on the 18th July 2007 and 6 months later she died still in hospital.
I feel that I need this story to be brought to the attention of the public and what better media than a documentary. My story has been documented every day for 6 months. It's very powerful and original as it shows the overall picture on how things from the very start went from bad to worse day by day.
Unfortunately my mother passed away still in hospital on the 8th January 2008 aged 85. I have called my story "The Last Six Months"
It is written in the form of a diary and as you can imagine going back to each day brings all the memories flooding back to me as if it were yesterday. It has also allowed me to capture all the memories of our time together while my mother was in hospital. The laughs, the tears, the precious words that had been spoken and the mishaps within the hospital which led to her deterioration and I have captured it all.
Even though my mother was 85 years old when she passed away, before she went into hospital she was a very smart, stylist, attractive and independent woman who wanted to get her independency back. When she died she was a withed up old lady. I also have changed the names and places of people as I feel this was appropriate.
