For 20 years, Rashaad King has been actively involved in community service, outreach and “the people business”. His mother, the late Mrs. Kerri S. Rakestraw, née Johnson, answered a call-to-service in the spring of 1995 and has honored her calling through her many organizations, outreach initiatives and life purpose workshops up until her physical death in April 2015. His greatest spiritual teacher, Rashaad’s mother has been his Starlight in a dark world and it’s because of this, that for eight of those 20 years, Rashaad has been faithfully and willfully dedicated to service and humanity through his work in entertainment.
Rashaad began his journey in television in college working directly with ESPN and the NFL. It was during this time that he was a part of the television and media department at his school, Valdosta State University, mainly covering sports and field events. Shortly after his time at VSU, Rashaad moved back home to Atlanta and began working as a camera operator in an Emmy award-winning television studio under the direction of Emmy-award winner, Jaffa Breedlove. It was during his tenure there in which he was privileged to shoot hundreds of live events including internationally viewed conferences, high school and college graduation ceremonies and concerts. He also played a part in garnering multiple Telly awards for the team.
While living in Atlanta, Rashaad has taken advantage of the progressing independent filmmaking scene as a casting director, screenwriter, director and producer. He has worked on a number of productions ranging from short films, commercials, theatre and television projects. He has been a film/theatre Casting Director as well as for the music video “What Do You Do” by Gareth Hunter featuring Zuri Craig and Jeffrey Lewis of The Craig Lewis Band.
In 2013, he began hosting a podcast with working entertainment professionals interviewing Hollywood Power Players such as Hollywood screenwriter Michael Starrbury, development executive Matt Misetich, comedian Rodney Perry, former HBO Vice President of Casting, Amy Jo Berman and others. He also founded The Creative Classic Collaborative (The C3 Atlanta), a motion picture collective of creative and visual artists. The C3 Atlanta is currently developing Expressions, a 10-part anthology series shining light on The Human Experience. In 2014, he launched Imadre Worx (pronounced: imagery works) Entertainment Consulting, a full-service entertainment consulting firm offering practical industry standard advice and guidance helping creatives and executives achieve their project goals, one story at a time.
In 2014 it was announced that King signed on as a producer of the feature film, WITNESS, alongside producer Marquis C. Mosley of South Wind Pictures. Operating as president and creative director of the Lifeline Creative Brands™, Rashaad is engaged in every business and creative aspect of the company.
