About Richard

Screenwriter, book writer and photographer, producer, director and actor.

I am a writer/director first and am at my most comfortable working with actors to get the best performance out of them. Storytelling is after all the first priority of a film.

As an actor I am very hard working and very professional, since I understand the challenges and constraints of being a producer and director. While I have a number of smaller acting roles under my belt, the season I spent standing in for a top British actor on Black Sails was absolutely invaluable to hone my skills and get comfortable on a big set working under pressure. While some may question the value in taking a season out to do this, it was at the suggestion of a veteran actor, and has helped me to build up my own self-confidence and skill set both as an actor and a director, since I worked closely with some of the best directors and DOPs in the world at the moment.

On the writing front I am extremely versatile, being comfortable with anything from drama to comedy to action and even sci-fi. Having had a pretty exciting life before getting in film I have a lot to draw from and a great deal of people experience to use as the basis for characters.

After a strong start in film and television in 2013 and 2014, I took time off to travel and produce a book, but now that I've moved to the U.K. I am putting my energy back into the screen and this includes a number of projects that I am currently producing.

Unique traits: Very intense blue eyes. I prefer playing strong-willed intense characters but with some humour in between.
