Australian-born, international cinematic writer and multi-hyphenate filmmaker: actor, writer-director and producer of my own work in narrative features and some television. I'm a location specialist, working with a location as a 'cinematic stage'.
As a screenwriter I work first with a cinematic novella - the visual unfolding of the film - then a 'director's screenplay' (work for option may differ) and am currently in development/pre-production on five features set in New South Wales, including my first as writer-director - which has had to wait while I wrangled the multi-hyphenate model (control the work!). Apologies, my website is also in the queue for completion for a similar reason but you can still get hold of me in the meantime at sara@ . I travel frequently, with projects out of Brisbane into South East Asia and Melbourne into Europe and the US plus two US features currently awaiting permits/visas.
Value-wise, I'm a true multi-hyphenate running a screenwriter-controlled model, working with micro to low sustainable budgets and on a significant capacity-build in feature film casting, something sorely needed in Australia. I run workshops/facilitation for actors wishing to create their own original protagonist roles in short films - rights retained by the actor - via email and Skype and can consult/advise on Australian-based locations for overseas productions.
I'm interested in networking with and supporting other creatives in film and performing arts and particularly those in Austin, Texas, Hawaii and Savannah/Atlanta, Georgia, where I hope to work on e3 visa projects (an Australian special professional visa, as writer-producer), ideally in location-based filmmaking.
Otherwise, I'm very happy to welcome visiting filmmakers with a coffee and local advice in sunny Sydney, Australia!
Unique traits: Location as cinematic stage - I can work with 'anywhere'. Cinematic novella and story writer. Original writer working outside accepted story structures. Multi-hyphenate filmmaker. Micro to low sustainable pro budgets. Capacity-building casting policy. Positive energy artist working to assist others.
