This is the very first piece I ever made. I was just beginning my journey into learning how to make films at Los Angeles City College (before USC) and one of my first film production classes had us go right into making our first short film. This is that short film.

Awaken is a haunting and powerful short film about survival, identity, and resilience. In a near‑future America where LGBTQ people are outlawed, a small group of refugees flees through the forest in search of safety. When tragedy strikes, Mya - a young Black transgender woman - discovers a hidden power within herself.
