Nick Assunto is part of the Stage 32 script services team and a repped screenwriter himself. He was previously a reader for the Austin Film Festival, a writer for the 2017 CBS Diversity Sketch Comedy Showcase, co-host of the Sunday show B.Y.O.T. at UCB, and dabbled in acting, having been featured on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, an eHarmony commercial directed by Limp Bizkit's Fred Durst (for real), and is infamously known as Tony, the annoying party member from the 'Four Friends' Elder Scrolls spots. Whether it’s epic battles between giant robots, a street fight, or someone chasing after the love of their life at the airport, the vast majority of movies and television use at least a bit of action writing. So we are challenged you to write an original or polish a scene with action, and really focus on making those moments of movement pop!

Q: How do I watch my webinar live?
A: If you received a confirmation that your webinar is on Go to Webinar, you will receive an email from Go to Webinar with further instructions for participating in the live webinar. You can also access your webinar link in your purchase history located under settings in the top right-hand corner of your Stage 32 profile.

Q: How do I watch my webinar on demand?
A: You will be able to watch your webinar on demand as many times as you’d like inside your Stage 32 profile. The recording is processed and posted between 24-48 hours after the webinar concludes. You can follow the instructions below.

Q: What is the format of a webinar?
A: Stage 32 Next Level Webinars are typically 90-minute educational broadcasts that take place online using a designated software program from Stage 32. Your webinar will be taught by a working industry professional with in-depth teaching on a topic. If you are able to attend live you will be able to ask your Stage 32 Educator questions during Q&A.
Q: What are the system requirements to watch my webinar live?
A: You will need to meet the following system requirements in order to run the webinar software: Windows 7 or later Mac OS X 10.9 (Mavericks) or later.
If you have Windows XP, Windows Vista and Mac OS X 10.9 (Mountain Lion): The webinar software does not support these operating systems. If you are running one of those operating systems, please upgrade now in order to be able to view a live webinar. Upgrade your Windows computer / Upgrade your Mac computer.
Q: What if I cannot attend the live webinar?
A: If you cannot attend a live webinar or purchase an on demand webinar, you will have access to the entire recorded broadcast, including the Q&A.
Q: Will I have access to the webinar afterward to re-watch?
A: Yes! Like all Stage 32 education, after the purchase of a live or on demand webinar, you will have on-demand access to the recording.
Q: How do I get a copy of the handouts provided?
A: If the webinar you take included handouts you can find them as downloads underneath your on demand video. You must be logged into your Stage 32 profile to view the video and get the handouts by clicking settings in the top right hand corner, then clicking purchase history.

Conveying 4 Emotions Between Your Characters
One of the common complaints with scripts is on-the-nose writing. This month, we're challenging you to convey a series of emotions without using the actual words (or synonyms - no cheating!).
The Write Now Challenge Webcast: Write a Scene of Conflict
In this challenge, members were asked to write a scene of conflict. Remember that "conflict" does not necessarily mean "a scene where two people fight"! It means a scene in which two characters with opposing points of view attempt to get what they want in the scene. So, what do they each want? What methods do they use in an attempt to get it? A great story starts with great characters and every great character starts with a great introduction. We challenged you to create or rewrite a scene where a major character is introduced.
The Write Now Challenge: Tone Pass
For this challenge, you were asked to take one (1) scene from your existing script and do a "tone pass'" with help from the Breakdown Webcast: Tackling Tone. The entries should have been no more than 3-5 pages, and were read live for the group!
The Write Now Challenge: The Gang's All Here
We're back in the Writers' Room for the Write Now Challenge Webcast: The Gang's All Here! In this challenge - using the Breakdown Webcast: Writing Ensembles members were asked to assemble their own ensemble for a story. They simply had to consider which type of ensemble group they would like to have (The "Fan Club" Ensemble (Harry Potter), The "Gang" Ensemble (Avengers, Ocean's 11), The "Vast" Ensemble ("Game of Thrones")) and then decide which narrative they would like to put them in (Tandem Narrative (Parenthood, Love, Actually), Multiple Protagonist Narrative aka "The Gang's All Here", or the Double Journey Narrative (The Departed)). Members came up with some fantastic ideas for ensemble stories!
