We're back in the Writers' Room for the Executive Hour Webcast with Emmy-nominated and PGA Award-winning Filmmaker and Producer, Rick Rosenthal of Whitewater Films. Best known for helming the hard-hitting drama BAD BOYS, which helped establish Sean Penn’s career, Rick has directed the likes of Joaquin Phoenix, John Lithgow, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Busta Rhymes. Along with his credits directing films, Rick has also worked extensively in television. He directed ABC’s ground-breaking pilot LIFE GOES ON, was nominated for a Directors Guild of Canada award for BEAUTY AND THE BEAST and served as a Supervising Producer on Amazon’s Emmy-winning series TRANSPARENT for the first three seasons. Whitewater recently premiered their feature Thriller THE BOY BEHIND THE DOOR. Their film, THE LAST SHIFT premiered at Sundance 2020 with two time Oscar-nominee Richard Jenkins. In 2019, they released STANDING UP, FALLING DOWN starring Billy Crystal & Ben Schwartz with first-time director Matt Ratner. The Executive Hour with Special Guest Playwright Eduardo Machado

This week we welcome playwright and TV writer who is the author of over forty plays!  His television credits include Executive Story Editor on Season 2 of the Starz drama "MAGIC CITY", and serving as Executive Story Editor on two seasons of the HBO television show "HUNG".  He wrote and directed the film EXILES IN New York, which played at the A.F.I Film Festival, South by South West, The Santa Barbara Film Festival and The Latin American International Film Festival in Havana, Cuba. He has also has sold his original television projects to Starz, Amazon and AMC, among others. During this incredible Executive Hour, Eduardo talks about working with Oscar-winner Al Pacino on the film SCARFACE in his early 20's, how to write compelling characters for stage and screen, what it is like being in a writers room for HBO, and offers a exercise in breaking character and story that brought one of our members to tears!
