So this is a response I got from a company is this good

This was their response. Does it sound right? I have gone through the script, and we are confident that our skills and experience will make this project a great success. This project is big, and we are willing to create each episode for $3000. USD The price is not our major concern, after going through the script, we are more than willing to make this project a success. Your level your brilliance and imagination amaze everyone. This is the best storyline I have read in a long time. We are open to discussing how this will work. Let us know if the price works for you. We are open and flexible. Our goal is to take this project out there! We have a team of 20 artists, we can create more than 2 episodes in a month. Let us know what works best. We'll send you different drafts of all the characters, and you'll pick the best sample of each character. We can't wait to make this a worldwide accepted animation

Christian Nommay

Could you tell us what kind of project is this? $3000 for each episode seems highly unrealistic. That's almost what I ask clients for short motion graphics videos (1-2 minutes), and that's without mentioning voice-over and music.

Troy Sciberras

Animation that would combind last air bender,Nadia and the golden compass in one

Troy Sciberras

Also a world first while it will be big. I touch on a big question of where we come from why are we hereand where do we go after death

Christian Nommay

Have you checked the studio's credits? I may be wrong, but $3000 per episode for an ambitious project like yours seems fishy. I suggest you ask for other opinions too, just in case.

Author David Seuss

1500 to 5000 per minute would be a low rate for animation. Are you sure they did not mean $3000 per minute?

Troy Sciberras

He said that he will cover some of the cost as they want to get their name on the project but yeah $3000usd but the company is based in London

Kumar Sambhav

The reference you mentioned does not match the price. The London folks may have teams in India /Pakistan/Bali / Indonesia / that way 3000usd may be possible for a 7min 2D Animation in a mid-level quality but the last air bender. You may want to see the showreels, meet the team on zoom. IF they are contributing from their side. for credits.

Troy Sciberras

Yes so spoke to him and the team. The company is investing the rest as they want to be apart of the animation. The $3000 is to cover the wages of the staff that will work on it. They believe that this story is far to good not to get involved with and will help boost their company to another level. But was worried when they said they whey want a percentage of control.

Christian Nommay

This is a red flag, Troy. I would advise being very careful with them. I had a similar experience a few years ago with a producer, here in Quebec for my animated series project. She said to me everything I wanted to hear, but I realized after that she wasn't honest at all and was using me. Fortunately, I managed to stop our partnership before it was too late. I'm well placed to know how it feels when you finally managed to find a studio or production company interested in your work, but if it sounds too good to be true, then there's probably something wrong.

Kevin Jackson

Is this the price to write the script or to animate the episode? If that is $3,000 to animate the episode, that is low. I charge $1,500 -3,000 per minute just to animate. No voice acting, no script writing or no storyboarding included. Just the animation itself and that's 2D cutout. Frame by Frame or 3D.

Is this is the rate to write, that would be a great price where I am from, but extremely low in the United States.

Bob Harper

DO you have a producer or legal rep attached to your project that would guide you through a deal that protects you? As most everyone pointed out, that is an extremely low number for anything beyond a 5 minute episode.

John Ellis

They want you to pay them to produce your work?

So, the answer to the original question: no, this is not a good deal.

Kevin Jackson

Wait. On re-reading this, at ethey saying they will animate each episode for you for $3,000? That sounds like a scam. That would be too good to be true.

Martin Reese

I wouldn't go for it.

Troy Sciberras

I check out the company, the person contacting me is a freelancer for airsofstudios in the uk. I don’t know what to do I think I might just give up on the idea I’m out of my depth with this anyway

Author David Seuss

Don't give up on your idea. It sounds like a great idea. Just know that you are asking the right questions and getting answers. Sooner or later you will find the right people to help you.

Christian Nommay

I couldn't agree more! Don't give up, keep searching and asking questions.
