About J.B.

My writing career started when I was no more than nine or ten years old. However, it took the form of imaginary adventures my many toys would embark upon. As I got older, I started to write essays at school. I excelled at the ones where I could freely mold my ideas into fiction. Not as good when it came to scrutinizing existing star-crossed literature written five hundred years ago.

So, what did I do with all of that imagination? I studied history and philosophy. Why? For the most part, because I was a kid who still harbored ambitions of being Batman. In other words, I had no idea who I wanted to be professionally. Yet, I was drawn to history, for that is the root of all storytelling. History is why we tell stories. As for philosophy, I had an inherent desire to understand the human condition. Later, I would learn what a critical key ingredient this is to writing compelling and authentic characters.

It wasn't until a few years after university I discovered a passion for screenplays and stage plays. (After all, it's a bit of a family vocation). Since then I've written a few features, plays, and short films. Some of which I've been fortunate enough to see produced. Some have even won awards!

Alas, I never had a chance to write to live. So, my writing has always been somewhat of a perpetual side-hustle. Something I continue to pursue with passion and gusto. As writing is more than just being that kid again, and letting my imagination fly free... it is catharsis. It's my place to meditate and conjure up tales that satiate my relentless creative curiosity... and hopefully produce the occasional story that resonates with others. I will always write and roam the endless possibilities of the imagination. Because it's what I love. It's who I am; A storyteller.

Oh, and I am also the co-founder of SOUND OF SCRIPTS (). An audio production service that transforms screenplays into radio-theater inspired audio experiences.
