WHY DO YOU BOTHER TO CONNECT WITH ANYONE AT ALL? It's the end of the 3rd week of April and just like the second week and the first week and most weeks before that, another 150 or so people requested to connect to me on LinkedIn, Facebook, Google+ and I have been followed in increasing numbers on my Twitter accounts! Hell I am being followed and tracked by so many people I am feeling like that Pied Piper! Oh don't get me wrong, I love it, I have asked for it and I take that connecting as a responsibility to provide some value, insight, creative thought, referrals, friendship, mentorship or a laugh or two! I take that opportunity to connect with me seriously, and I intend to continue to make the offer daily. But, many times I wonder what the reason is that someone wants to connect to me. I know more often than not, it's because many of them want to get to my people, to mine my network, to sell them something, recruit them, make an offer for the deal of a lifetime, a quick rich idea or some other sales effort. And I gotta say, sometimes it's exhausting. You must experience the same thing right? So how about this? We connect, you look at everyone I know and think of what you can offer them that might help them with their struggle, with what they need, and you do that from a powerfully centered place of giving. You are talented, awesome, connected and smart...but sometimes, many of you get a little myopic, selfish and a little too stuck in the sell. Come to "The Art of Active Networking", in any city I offer it in and make a shift! If I am not in your city, take a step to helping others in your city and bring me in and let's collaborate to rise everyone around you up!
