THE MADMAN IS NEAR (SAMPLE - ACT I)
By Mike Randazzese

GENRE: Thriller, Horror
LOGLINE:

They just got away with murder. The  last thing they fear is getting caught. That is until a kidnapping gone wrong brings back something far more threatening than the law.

SYNOPSIS:

Brandon and Tara get pulled over by a questionable police officer. Something behind that smile and friendly demeanor doesn't sit right with them. His entire interaction with them is a giant red flag. Right down to his Police Cruiser being twenty years out of date, and badge as phony as his painted grin. His firearm, however, is very real. Karl and Rachel were supposed to  meet up with Brandon and Tara that night. Unfortunately, Karl is sick and the two of them hang out at his apartment instead. Rachel is more than happy to take care of him. Karl loves every moment with her despite his illness. A knock on the door changes everything. A dark shadow of what appears to be a child in a Halloween costume stand silent, and motionless on the porch. It's not Halloween. Tara's brother John, just got out of a concert with his two friends - Eddie and Val. A flat tire delays their return home. Not to worry! A tow truck is on the way and they have a few joints to pass the time. The only issue? Someone is watching them.  Someone is watching all of them - Brandon, Tara, Karl, Rachel, John, Eddie and Val. They think the night is already rough with their own issues. What's coming will make them wish those issues were all they experience. The night is still young. The madman is near.
