Hi there,

I'm in Islamabad with my partner and I am keen to make some short films, music videos, feature films, web casts with local actors and directors. I'd be keen on a collaborative story... we could write together if there was interest. I'm thinking a group of 5 - 8. Is there any interest?

My interest would be to work on a traditional Pakistani story, mythical. I found this line on wikipedia: "The provinces of Pakistan are known by the love stories in their folklore that have been immortalized by singers, reciters and storytellers of the regions." There must be some great stuff for us to work with.

I will return to Pakistan in early May. We should definitely catch up. I love the idea of a traditional Pakistani story... although I would like to work in English as my urdu is expanding but limited to few words.

Many folk tales from Punjab have been disseminated worldwide by the Punjabi diaspora, especially in the UK and USA. ~ If we can get one of those tales to 1 or 2 A4 English.

I think there is a lot of stuff for you to work with here. It's true that the provinces of Pakistan are known by the love stories in their folklore. Love Stories of Heer Ranjha, Sassui Punnhun, and Prince Saiful Malook and Badri Jamala etc are truly popular in Pakistan. There is also a city named Taxila near Islamabad and it's one of the top tourist destinations in Pakistan with a truly rich history. And of course there are some other traditional stories too.

During the reign of Chandragupta's grandson Aśoka, Takṣaśilā became a great Buddhist centre of learning. Nonetheless, Takṣaśilā was briefly the centre of a minor local rebellion.

what we would need is characters and plotlines.

It's indeed an interesting arena for a Feature. You'll definitely get Characters and Plotlines. It's not gonna be a problem. And I think this part of the world holds great potential for Documentaries and Short Films too.

Let's create a Takṣaśilā mini-slate based upon our to be written story-world. Consisting out of the following elements:

feature film
documentary
branded short
online game (with live-action cinematics)
music compilation

If we agree on this a writer can start with a synopsis 1 or 2 A4 containing the story. This would be on spec.

Hi! Sorry I have been M.I.A... I've been traveling. I'll be back in Islamabad next week. Perhaps we could catch up for a coffee and planning session somewhere to talk about ideas? I like how Williem is keen to get started right away! I reckon it is a good idea to start small - so that it doesn't get too overwhelming.

I will be back in town after the 11th... so maybe we could catch up that weekend somewhere?

Hello Sara! Yes, Willem and I have talked about some possibilities. I think we could catch up @ Gloria Jeans, Islamabad or Street Cafe, Islamabad for a coffee and a planning session. We can talk about different ideas and scenarios.

By the way, a friend of mine is shooting a short film "Taking Direction" after May 15. It's an Action Thriller.

I'm also making a short film soon. It will be a Horror Short or a Drama.

I'm a G&E guy turned vfx artist from Seattle, WA. I can light and rig almost anything. I've rigged cameras to cars, planes, even a typewriter and more. Beyond that I do animation, visual effects and color, last feature I color corrected called Welcome to Doe Bay is currently about to show at SIFF which we're pretty proud of. I've worked all around the country and with a few international crews. Seems like a nice site here, I figured it was worth giving a whirl.

Yes I am. I live in Vancouver, but my mom is trying to work on getting me a US visa. She said I can still volunteer for projects in the US. I was booked to do a screen test for a TV pilot last year, but we couldn't get my visa fast enough. I was very sad about that.
