Some good news out of Berlinale. This along with conversations I've had with many execs over the last few weeks and the over 50% increase in script requests we've seen on Stage 32 over the last 2 months suggests things are beginning to open up again.

I knew mid-size films would make a comeback. Huge films just needed to stub a toe and everyone would look for a cheaper alternative.
If I am a prodco with 50 million, do I just leave the industry because Marvel spends 200 mill. No I find a way forward (Hello Netflix I have a film for you).
Will Cinema start showing these films. Yes I believe so.
Remember the low budget found footage era. It is just a series of long cycles.

Well, for one, of course that's what's going to be said to rally the troops Dan MaxXx. And there is, of course, some truth to films being ahead of television as it relates to interest and buying. No new shows, no new staffing. But every exec I've spoken with expects that to loosen in Q2 and especially Q3's and 4. Doesn't deny what I'm saying, script requests are through the roof right now. Everyone is getting prepared and looking for material. I was literally on a call with a manager today who's been out with 8 features and 3 shows in the last week and a half. So, while mandates many not be flowing just yet, the river of content flow is rising again.
