This is a pivotal moment for you as a screenwriter. The industry is actively searching for bold new voices, original ideas, and compelling feature scripts—and executives are ready to invest in writers who can deliver. As production ramps back up globally, the demand for fresh material has never been higher. But opportunity only matters if you’re prepared to meet it. To break through, you need more than a great idea—you need a finished, polished screenplay that’s ready to be championed.

And that’s often where things stall. You know you want to write your feature, but the process can feel overwhelming, isolating, and endlessly postponed. Without structure, accountability, or expert feedback, it’s easy to get stuck in outlining, second-guess your pages, or abandon the draft altogether. Many creatives try to do it alone, when what they actually need is community, guidance, and a clear, step-by-step path to completion. Writing a feature is a huge undertaking—but it doesn’t have to be one you face without support.

That’s where Thomas Pemberton comes in. As a Development Executive at the global production company Mind’s Eye Entertainment, Thomas has worked on over $400 million worth of film and television projects and more than 60 features and series, collaborating with major talent and selling projects to over 200 territories worldwide. He has a proven track record of identifying strong material and championing writers—so much so that four Stage 32 writers he discovered now have projects optioned with Mind’s Eye. Thomas knows exactly what executives are looking for, because he’s the one making those decisions.

Over 12 intensive weeks, you’ll work closely with Thomas and a small group of writers to outline, write, and complete your feature screenplay. Through weekly live Zoom sessions, targeted notes, peer feedback, and direct access to Thomas throughout the lab, you’ll build your script piece by piece with clarity and confidence. By the end of this lab, you won’t just have more pages—you’ll walk away with a completed feature screenplay, a deeper understanding of the professional writing process, and the momentum and accountability to move your career forward.

This interactive Stage 32 lab is held on Zoom and goes substantially more in depth than a Stage 32 webinar. Best of all? As soon as you sign up you will be linked on email with your Stage 32 Educator and given a questionnaire to fill out and send back to them. You will have access to your Educator for the duration of your class by email to ask them any questions you have about your craft or career - it’s like having a mentor on demand! And, if you can't make a live session, don't worry! All class recordings will be available 48 hours after each session and you will be able to view them in your Library on your Stage 32 profile. Finally, you can expand your network with like-minded creatives - you'll have a dedicated lounge for interactive support and discussions with your fellow classmates!

Praise For Thomas:

“I found Tom's class very helpful. I was able to craft a much better feature script than I would have otherwise.  Tom elucidated some of the formatting techniques, including crafting better action sequences and dialogue to underscore the characters' emotional arcs.” - Alexander S

"Thomas was instrumental in helping me get to that glorious 'Fade Out' at the end of my screenplay. After working with Thomas I feel confident that my script is ready to be read by executives and reps!" - Sabrina S.

"I didn't realize how much I didn't know about story structure and dialogue before working with Thomas. He opened my eyes to all the nuances in writing that I apply to all my work now." - Sam B.

"Thomas Pemberton's class was really excellent and I truly enjoyed going through the process. His expectations were clearly laid out, his feedback was specific, thoughtful, engaging, and he took genuine time to learn everyone's story which enabled him to effectively connect with each and every story in a meaningful manner." - Matthew W.

What You'll Learn

Each week, Thomas will delve into a specific planning document or sequence of each student’s script, offer feedback, and assign a new document or sequence to be written for the next session. Thomas will conclude the lab with a one-on-one final evaluation with each student where he gives feedback on the screenplay draft as a whole and ideas on how to move forward.

Each class will include a Q&A with Thomas where you can ask him specific questions about your project.

  • Session 1 – One Page Synopsis
  • Session 2- Two Page Synopsis
  • Session 3- Five Page Synopsis
  • Session 4 – Sequence 1 (first ~10 pages of the script)
  • Session 5 – Sequence 2
  • Session 6 – Sequence 3
  • Session 7 – Sequence 4
