Every great project starts with a story, but your ability to sell that story can determine what happens next. Whether you're looking for representation, financing, production partners, buyers, or simply trying to make the most of an unexpected conversation at a festival or industry event, you need to know how to communicate YOUR project quickly, clearly, and in a way that makes people want to hear more. In this five-week private lab, you'll learn how to turn YOUR story into a compelling 5-minute pitch, identify the strongest hook in your project, communicate what makes it marketable, and adapt your approach to the person sitting across from you.

If you've ever walked away from a pitch wondering whether you said too much, not enough, or simply didn't make your project land, this lab will help you change that. You'll learn how to structure YOUR pitch, distill your story without turning it into a plot summary, keep your audience engaged, and deliver your ideas with greater confidence. You'll also learn how to approach pitching differently depending on whether you're in a formal pitch meeting, at a festival or market, or having an unexpected industry conversation — so you're prepared when the opportunity comes.

You'll be learning directly from Ewan Dunbar, who brings nearly two decades of international entertainment experience across development, production, international sales, and production management. He has developed and produced projects that landed on Netflix, Apple TV, Disney+, and Amazon/MGM, including BARE, NOWHERE MEN, and BERLIN, I LOVE YOU. He also regularly judges, speaks, and mentors at film festivals and industry programs, giving you insight from someone who understands pitching from both sides of the table.

Over five weeks, you'll build YOUR pitch from the ground up, from storyselling fundamentals and the anatomy of a 5-minute concept pitch to refining your hook and putting everything into practice. You'll have a one-on-one consultation with Ewan, participate in a live workshop with your classmates, and have email access to him throughout the lab. You'll also receive a questionnaire when you enroll so Ewan can understand YOUR project and goals. If you can't attend live, every session is recorded and available in your Stage 32 Library within 48 hours, and you'll have a dedicated Lounge to connect with your classmates and expand YOUR creative network. By the end, you'll have a polished 5-minute pitch you can take into your next room — and the skills to make YOUR story land.

Praise For Ewan's Work and Teaching

“ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC! Ewan delivered more in 20 minutes than other presenters do in an hour, and it NEVER felt rushed and he was always easily understandable. I cannot wait to get the handouts!” --Bob S.

"I've taken many years of webinars, gone to many conferences, and taken many courses on feature script writing. I've won a Grand Prize in a major festival for a screenplay. And I'm old enough to be an honest critic. Ewan Dunbar's webinar was one of the best I have ever taken! Organized, filled with useful information, he sounded like he really cared about helping the audience be better at what they want to do, and wasn't making an obvious pitch for himself as a consultant --although I'd call on him anytime." --Roberta P.

"Very good, very knowledgeable and very organized. Great presentation and webinar. I walked away with lots of ideas about polishing my pitch decks to make sure they stand out." --James B.

“Ewan’s presentation was excellent! I learned so much from him and now feel 100% confident in creating a pitch deck. He is truly an expert.” --Margaret M.
