Coffee & Content: Action, Insight & Audience- What YouTube Can Teach Every Creator

Happy Sunday, Creative Army!

Have you had a creative weekend so far? Whether you’ve been writing, filming, editing, or simply dreaming up your next big idea, I’ve got some inspiring content to fuel your passion and keep you moving forward. So grab your coffee, and let’s dive in.

This week’s featured video comes from Corridor Crew: Stuntmen React to THE KARATE KID (ft. Ben Wang). Corridor Digital founder Niko Pueringer and professional stuntman Gui Silva (Black Panther, among others) are joined by the new Karate Kid himself, Ben Wang, for a high-energy breakdown of fight scenes and stunt choreography from The Karate Kid: Legends, Jackie Chan’s legendary roles, and the original Karate Kid films.

Beyond being a masterclass in physical performance and action storytelling, this video is also a reminder of how platforms like YouTube have transformed the way we consume, and create, content.

We’ve talked before about YouTube’s influence on the industry, but it’s worth repeating: entire generations now see YouTube as their primary entertainment platform. In fact, 40% of all viewers get their content from YouTube. For younger audiences, it’s used more than Netflix or any other streaming service.

So, what does that mean for you as a creator? It means YouTube can be one of the most powerful tools in your arsenal. Whether you’re building a brand, launching a project, sharing behind-the-scenes content, or developing a following, YouTube gives you direct access to your audience, with total creative control.

It’s not about chasing virality. It’s about building awareness, offering value, and showing your work in action. Just like Ben Wang is doing here: being part of a cultural legacy and showing his personality through thoughtful commentary on the craft. Learn more in my video here.

How do you use YouTube—as a viewer or creator? Are you watching breakdowns, learning new skills, sharing your content, or doing something completely unique? Let us know in the comments.

As always, we love sharing inspiration, tools, and insights that help fuel your creative fire. Know someone who would love this content? Share it with them. And don’t forget to tag us (@Stage32) if you do. You can keep up with everything we’re doing on the Stage 32 YouTube and by following me on Instagram and X: @rbwalksintoabar.

Wishing you a happy, healthy, and creative Sunday.

Cheers,

RB

I love this weekend's share especially, RB! Martial Arts action has been my thing forever -- a lifetime study and also incorporating them into my own acting roles and filmmaking. Jackie Chan has been a major influence on me since growing up in Hawaii watching his movies. Fight choreography IS like a musical number for sure. And YouTube has been a great way for me to share my work, especially with my upcoming CYBER FIGHTER. You're so right - you need to actively build your audience. YouTube is a perfect place to host your content, but you always need to be pointing your audience to your channel.

Hi RB! I use YouTube both as a viewer and as a creator (probably 70% creator, 30% viewer). I use it for entertainment and education. For my creations, I share my music and written content to help with motivation, inspiration, achieving a balanced lifestyle, improving sleep, and reducing stress. So, in a way, I'd say I'm doing something completely unique. Rather than just having a musician channel, I figured out a way to blend my businesses. And everything I do helps my target audience, because in the end, they are often the same person.

Hi RB, welcome home! I’ve always loved Jackie Chan’s movies, and Karate Kid is a true cinematic treasure. You’re absolutely right. YouTube is an essential marketing tool for anyone looking to build visibility, share insights, promote a brand, or offer services. I’ve used it a lot as a consumer, and now, a screenwriter I met through Stage 32 and I are teaming up to launch an exciting new YouTube show all about cinema and… well, there’s a surprise in store! Wishing you an amazing week, my friend!

Thank you for the post RB - reminding us all of how powerful YouTube can be. I have my own YouTube channel where I've posted my shorts to promote my screenplays but I also interview creatives to help put their names out there. I appreciate YouTube because I don't need to pay a fee to put my name out there and help promote others. And it makes me feel good because out of the 8 billion plus people who occupy this planet - 58 have subscribed to my channel! ...only 7 billion to go haha

The article is fascinating. This old dog is attempting to learn new tricks. I have learned a lot regarding scripting, songwriting, being a playwright and so on. Now if only I can learn how promote my projects on YouTube. The truth is that I have a real and deep ecosystem planned for my projects. They will definitely be money spinners once they get off the ground. Part of my plans involves getting social media influencers actively involved across all the popular social media platforms. Now I just need to find the right person or people who can see the value of my planned TV series, films and music.

I have eleven (11) trailers for my book, on my channel (@sillekaekae). Four of them at 3 minutes. Four at 2 minutes. Three at 1 minute. With six (6) female voice talents and five (5) male narrators. I perform in six (6) of them (as well). They have over 47,000 views altogether (combined). Thanks *RB*!

Thanks for this RB. Your article has inspired me to give You Tube a go for marketing my courses for actors. I've been thinking about it for a while. P.S glad your trip has been rewarding and productive.

Good morning, RB. I'm having a great creative weekend. I'm working on projects, getting closer to finishing a ghostwriting job, and networking. How's your weekend going? Thanks for sharing the videos. The stunts in Karate Kid: Legends look great! I'm looking forward to seeing the movie! Watching stunt scenes helps me think of fights/stunts for my scripts. I mainly use YouTube to watch videos (short films, screenwriting videos, sports highlights, funny cat videos, etc.). I also post my videos (sizzle reel, etc.) on YouTube.

I think youtube is a great tool to use to create entertainment. It also depends on the algorithm though. I have some friends who write their own songs and make their own music videos, but a lot of their videos will get less than 100 views. It seems like a lot of luck is involved.

No luck in building your own audience. Can't rely on an algorithm. Have to go out and build champions of you and your work every day. No platform is an "If you build it they will come" proposition.

Thank you, RB, for both of these videos. I love Jackie Chan and his style of action. I am always keen to see his work and it is particularly interesting to hear a review from Stuntmen. I have a YouTube Channel but I have found Stage32 to be far better in providing exposure. My weekly views on YouTube (with 33 videos) are in the order of 20 to 40 while my weekly views on Stage32 (with 20 videos) are in the order of 100 to 150. These comments need to be tempered by the fact that I am very uncomfortable wearing my Marketing Hat. (I know I need to improve that.) However, from an 'exposure' point of view, I find my video views to be much higher on Stage32 AND, additionally, I am being viewed by the correct audience, who understand the medium. I would encourage everyone to get their work onto the Stage32 'Video and Audio Reels'.

You're in a constant state of analysis, Wayne Jarman, and that's more than half the battle. It fascinates me how many people just bang their heads against the wall expecting a different result. You have to feed what's working and starve what's not. Having said that, I'm thrilled to hear you're getting more views and exposure here on Stage 32. I can tell you that our membership and activity here continues to break new records, which is saying something after 14 years. More and more, and we heard this seemingly every 5 minutes at Cannes, people are leaving the toxicity of the broad based social platforms and making Stage 32 their home base.

I loved comparing action movies to musicals, keeping the story moving along. The action scenes and songs must be seamlessly integrated rather than distract from the storyline. My respect for Jackie Chan, Ralph Macchio, Ben Wang, stunt actors, and choreographers skyrocketed today. I also liked RB’s comments about building an audience with a variety of tools that are right for your brand.
