It’s no secret that auditioning is a source of stress for many actors. The audition itself takes so much skill and practice to master that many actors fail to put enough attention on how they prepare before their audition. As the saying goes - failing to prepare is preparing to fail.
There are some very specific things that all actors must do to give themselves their best chance to impress the casting director and others involved in the project. Whether you’re a veteran actor or new to the craft, knowing how to properly prepare yourself before an audition allows you to confidently tackle any role they ask you to play.
In this Stage 32 Next Level Webinar, Aaron Marcus will teach you his best-kept secrets for successfully preparing for an audition – having booked over 1,200 jobs he’s got this down to a science! In this webinar, you will learn step-by-step what you will want to do as soon as you get the email, text or phone call about the audition. You will learn what types of questions to ask, how to research to prepare for your read, memorization techniques, and more.
You will leave this webinar fully prepared to prepare for any audition you face in a manner that will impress every casting director you meet!

Learn directly from Aaron Marcus, a full-time actor and commercial model for nearly 3 decades! Working as a full-time actor can be really difficult. I know. I have been doing that for nearly 3 decades! One of the ways that I have been able to avoid taking on jobs outside of the industry (waiting tables, doing temp work, walking dogs (except my own) is by using my acting skills to get Commercial Modeling gigs. Commercial models come in every form. They are the glorified versions of everyday people, and, let’s face it, as an actor you can morph into any of those roles once the camera turns on. A commercial model is hired to portray the doctor, teacher, mom, banker, student, grandparent, blue-collar worker, patient, real estate agent, athlete, musician, nurse, attorney, and the list goes on and on! Unlike other jobs, most commercial modeling jobs only last a few hours. It is great to get a full-day booking, but that is rare. Commercial modeling work hardly ever interferes with theater performances, and it’s a great way to stay busy in between film or TV performances. It’s a better way to make additional income doing what you love by being in front of the camera. Fees for commercial models will vary depending on your location and the usage of the ad. Commercial Models will earn a great hourly rate per session, and if the ad is running in a high exposure format (billboards, posters, on the side of a bus, Internet, package, etc.), generally bonuses are paid on top of the session fee. That certainly beats bussing your tables at a restaurant, working graveyard shifts at a call center, or stocking a back room at a retail store before your next film, TV show or play starts. Join me during this exclusive Stage 32 Next Level Webinar as I share with you how I’ve made a living doing this for nearly 30 years and how you, as an actor, should consider it as an additional form of income.
Learning improv techniques doesn't just make you a stronger actor, it also makes you ready for all kinds of situations in your day-to-day life. When actors hear "improv," they usually think of live comedy shows, which is definitely an exciting route for improv actors to pursue, but this kind of improv I'll be discussing and teaching is based on an outline, or "soft script" that actors follow, which is rooted in reality for TV. Improv-based & soft-scripted TV programming is becoming more and more popular and successful, especially if it's crime-related or comedic, thanks to the many shows that air on cable networks like Investigation Discovery, Oxygen, Lifetime, MTV, TruTV, A&E, Comedy Central, and broadcast networks like ABC and NBC. If you can do it, it's a fairly fast and fun way to make some money as an actor, add more credits to your resume, and strengthen your skills to be able to change the direction of your performance quickly and seamlessly. I've been casting these kinds of roles for five years now, and it's always exciting for me to see actors who can be flexible in their performances. After taking this webinar, you'll have a better understanding of this particular "style" of acting, and feel more confident auditioning for these kinds of roles, and for any role in general.
Learn directly from Cynthia White, an actor, director, writer and producer who has coached hundreds of professional actors and acting students! Why do so many wonderful actors never get the chance to use their talent? Why do well-trained actors fail to convince casting directors to book them for jobs and agents to take them on as clients? Why do so many actors find they're chasing after any career opportunity as opposed to creating a career they love? The simple answer is most actors have no understanding of their Castable Types® and without that crucial knowledge and insight, a majority of actors will fail at their creative career goals. Understanding your Castable Types® is more than saying "I'm this or that type". It's having a thorough, in-your-bones knowledge of what is unique about your talent, how that can set you apart from the competition, giving you a recognizable identity as an actor. It builds demand for your talent. It becomes your area of acting expertise in the market. Strengthening and then using the unique and essential qualities that make up your CastableType® allows actors to take their work to Performance Level by bringing specificity, energy, relatability and nuance to every role. That is what casting directors look for in actors. That is what gets you to the final callback. That is what persuades a director to take a risk on a fresh face or an actor who differs from the breakdown and give him or her a chance. That is what tells an agent your talent is worth the investment. By understanding your Castable Type®, using the right techniques to achieve Performance Level work and having a clearer, current grasp of the industry, actors can finally make a successful and sustaining acting career a reality.
Producer Chris Moore has done it all. From producing 2 Oscar-winning films Good Will Hunting and Manchester by the Sea, to producing some of the biggest franchises of our time like American Pie - he's seen it all. What's even more impressive is that Chris is committed to creative careers and the journey it takes to sustain one. Chris was the co-founder of Project Greenlight with Matt Damon, Ben Affleck and Sean Bailey and The Chair - and continues to help inspire those who chose a life in entertainment. With the evolution of the industry causing dramatic shifts in the way you create and consume content (film, television, digital) more and more opportunities are being presented for a creative career. In this Stage 32 webinar Chris is going to discuss what the shift entails and how you make an educated decision on which path you should take with your career in “the industry” to satisfy the lifestyle you want. Producer Chris Moore will be hosting an interactive webinar where he’ll be discussing the future of the industry and will workshop with a select group of students from the class. He’ll talk about your intended primary path and discuss possible alternative paths if you can’t find the right fit with your primary goals. For example, if you are setting out to be a director and you’re having trouble gaining traction, Chris will go over alternative ways you can break in and gain your footing. Or, if you’re a screenwriter and have been at it a long time and haven’t gotten your break, what are alternatives for your lifestyle in this industry? Or, if you're a cinematographer looking to move from digital shorts to streaming TV, what can you do? All creative professions are welcome to attend!
