Hello Team 32!

First and foremost, THANK YOU to Stage 32, their dedicated staff, and all the producers, managers, and agents for taking time out of your busy schedules to help guide and shepherd me on my long journey as a writer. Your help, insight, and knowledge have been invaluable in my career.

Stage 32 has provided me with a direct avenue and channel to get my work out there and read by the top producers, managers, and agents in LA and NYC. I have garnered incomparable knowledge and formed lasting relationships.

My Writing Background

Writing is my passion. I began in Reality TV while I worked at a recording studio in Philadelphia for an entertainment lawyer, and then switched over to one-hour episodic TV Pilots and screenplays.

I enjoy creating unique bodies of work and writing full-time. I also work as a script consultant for an LA producer. I've done page one rewrites and also changed the P.O.V. on several projects.

I wrote, co-directed, and co-produced a video for my short film: 'Ray Of Hope' about ‘paying it forward’.

I write every day and have written for approximately 15 years. There are the good days and the bad ones --

Good Days:

Your writing pays off with ‘that indescribable feeling’ when you get that email, the script request, the call, or that break – that “unparalleled moment”.

The only other thing close is like winning the lotto twice or hitting that huge jackpot on your favorite slot machine as you exit the casino with your last quarter or telling a joke and seeing your best friend smile and laugh uncontrollably.

Bad Days:

However, the downside, are those late nights/early mornings, when no one calls or your friends are out at the bar, a concert, or asleep, and you are revising/updating a draft (AGAIN). Those long and endless nights as you wait for the sun to come up. When you think it’s not going to get any better, and that’s when it happens!

“Some people live to write… I write to live…”

How I Optioned My First Project through Stage 32

I signed my first deal by connecting with Veteran Writer, Producer, Director; Julia Verdin of Rough Diamond Management and Productions through Stage 32. I am honored and delighted to be working with someone of Julia’s caliber.

Julia and I connected after I sent her a few scripts and a pilot to review. She championed my writing style and was a fan of my work. Julia requested a meeting and then we took a few calls.

We decided to co-write the project: ‘Surviving The Streets’, a drama feature, about a very important social issue crippling California and the US. I felt the story also needed to be told and we agreed it needed to be in the spotlight. I am very excited about the project, coming onboard, and even more thrilled to be working with Julia!

We have already got the ball rolling on ‘Surviving The Streets’ and have fleshed out the main characters. We have also framed-out the beat sheet, outlined the script, and are in the process of writing it.

How I Came To Be On Stage 32

After using other sites, I discovered Stage 32 and found it to be the most interactive and “hands on” site on the market that delivers real results. If you look at how they help you, the access they give you, and assist you in getting your material out there and read, along with insight from top producers and managers/agents – no other site offers this.

Stage 32 allows anyone from all over the world direct access to the industry and producers, managers, and agents, who are hungry for fresh voices and up-and-coming writers, without “actually” having to fly to LA or NYC and having to take PHYSICAL meetings.

So, whether you are a new writer or a seasoned pro, Stage 32 allows you to get your script in the hands of a producer who can greenlight your project or help you further develop it to get it to that point.

My Advice For Other Writers on Stage 32

Take detailed notes. If the producer feels you should implement them, there’s a high percentage you should. If you have questions, ask them.

Also build relationships. If you write comedy/horror/drama, work with a few of the same producers, managers, or agents so they can get a feel of your overall writing style and your work as a whole.

The Wrap Up

After 15 years of writing, selling on eBay, taking care of my brother’s dog, planting every season, and doing any odd job I can find, hang in there and don’t ever give up! If you love what you do, you’ve already succeeded. This is an Ironman, not a sprint. If you write a “high-concept” script – it’ll do the rest if you get it in the right hands.

Oh, and I can’t write this without a quotation from my mother: ‘Focus on your “ONE BEST SCRIPT!” That’s your calling card.
