The 12th Annual Winter Film Awards International Film Festival runs February 21-25 2024 in New York City and includes 82 outstanding films, a diverse mixture of animated films, documentaries, comedies, romances, dramas, horror films, music videos and web series of all lengths. Our five-day event is jam-packed with screenings and Q&A sessions at NYC's LOOK Cinemas, six Education sessions/workshops and a variety of filmmaker networking events all coming to a glittering close on February 25 with our red-carpet gala Awards Ceremony. Winter Film Awards is dedicated to showcasing the amazing diversity of voices in indie film and our 2024 lineup is 58% made by women and half by or about people of color. Filmmakers come from 23 countries and 41% of our films were made in the New York City area. Black Voices in TV and Film Panel and Networking Event

The Black Voices in TV and Film panel and networking mixer is a highly anticipated event that brings together industry professionals and enthusiasts to discuss the importance of representation in media. The panel features influential Black voices in the entertainment industry, who share their experiences and insights on breaking into the industry, navigating challenges, and overcoming barriers. Attendees are able to engage in thought-provoking discussions about the state of diversity in TV and film, and the ways in which Black voices are shaping the narrative. The panelists also highlight the importance of amplifying Black voices and stories on screen, as well as the need for increased diversity both in front of and behind the camera. Following the panel discussion, attendees have the opportunity to network with industry professionals and peers, making valuable connections and forging new relationships. The event provides a platform for all creatives to come together, share their work, and support one another in pushing for greater representation and inclusivity in the entertainment industry. Overall, the Black Voices in TV and Film panel and networking mixer is a successful and empowering event that celebrates the contributions of Black artists and professionals in the industry, while also inspiring future generations to continue pushing for greater diversity and visibility in media.

This workshop is designed for directors in Physical, Drama, Musical Theatre, Choreography, and Circus, as well as for actors and dancers aiming to develop a director’s toolkit. It is suitable for both resilient professionals and committed pre-professionals, ensuring full participation throughout. Performers will practically explore: Building images and characters using physical movement, space, and partner interaction.Connecting isolated elements into cohesive performance fragments.Unleashing actors’ creativity and promoting improvisation and spontaneity in rehearsal and training. Workshop Program Includes: Five days of classes from 10:30 AM to 6:00 PM.Opportunity to receive an international certificate upon completion from NIPAI with Sergei Ostrenko.Personalized support, feedback, and advice from the mentor. The workshop uses the Ostrenko Brothers Method for physical training and rehearsal, fostering a unique approach to working with actors and dancers. This method is recognized for its innovation in performance, blending various concepts and playtexts. Participants will be introduced to Meyerhold's "Biomechanics", M.Chekhov's "Psychological Gesture", and Stanislavsky's "Physical Action" by experienced practitioners and experts in performing arts. Your mentor, Sergei Ostrenko, brings over 30 years of experience as a Director, Choreographer, and Performance Teacher. He has worked internationally, producing diverse projects in both professional stage settings and educational contexts. The program's working language is English. Our last film screening and panel has brought together from textile traders, artists, activists, designers, scientists, and entrepreneurs, to models and scholars to talk about the value of representation in art, diversity, equity and inclusion for social change and other sustainable issues to move forward. Life Is A Cultural Thread (2022) will be traveling to Barcelona in Catalonia, Spain this spring for a film screening and panel with EL CINE SECRETO in collaboration with CIMA CATALUNYA, ASOCIACIÓN DE MUJERES CINEASTAS Y DE MEDIOS AUDIOVISUALES, artists, weavers, designers and the general public for days full of intersectional feminism.
