Coffee & Content: Script Break Down of Netflix's THE DIG & How to Green Screen on a Budget

Happy Sunday Creative Army!

I've got my coffee in hand and your weekly dose of content coming in hot - grab your coffee of choice and let's dive right in.

First up, Netflix UK & Ireland has a great series where they break down scripts from popular Netflix movies and shows. In this video, they break down the feature-length script for The Dig written for the screen by Moira Buffini and starring Carey Mulligan, Ralph Fiennes, and Lily James. Screenwriter Moira Buffini talks about the process of adapting the novel into the BAFTA-nominated screenplay, how the actors added some inspired improvisation, and more. If you enjoyed this video, be sure to check out our Director of Script Services break down of The Queen's Gambit pilot script.

Next up, the folks over at FXhome put together a helpful guide on easy, low-budget green screens. You will see a range of affordable green screen options ($20 and under!) and how you can get high quality green screen backdrop for VFX in your own home.

Thanks for sharing. I like to see the scripts and scenes in the same videos. By seeing a script and scene together, you see that you don't have to write every detail in scripts (you don't have to overwrite). You also see which parts of the script aren't used doing filming.

Thank you for sharing RB.  As we start location shoots again, we can incorporate all of the tips we have acquired during COVID and the lockdown to enhance our projects.

RB, I pray that you are enjoying your outing this weekend.  The perk I shared with you and your staff (Pop Slots) has lots of great perks like that as rewards.  I had some questions from your AMA regarding authors adapting novels to film projects from my project page.  How would you like me to ask (Jason, Karen or direct)?  The questions also include subject matter experts on Stage 32 to facilitate.  Thank you in advance.

Another great curated Sunday, RB!  I am a HitFilm user and love their tutorials.  The VFX capabilities are pretty amazing.  I enjoyed that scene breakdown from "The Dig" too.

Love that “anything is possible” attitude in FXhome video. Green screen with green tea? Nope! I will have my scandinavian style coffee first. Have a croissant filled Sunday!

Anyone that includes "anything is possible" in their training is OK in my book.  Hope you both had a fantastic weekend.
