Coffee & Content: Aaron Sorkin Answers Screenwriting Questions & How to Improve Your Acting from Home

Happy Sunday Creative Army!

Have you had a creative weekend so far? Can you believe it is November already?! I have some content here for you that is sure to get the creative juices flowing, so grab your coffee and let's dive in.

First up, Wired sat down with legendary screenwriter Aaron Sorkin (The West Wing, Steve Jobs, The Newsroom, Moneyball) and had him answer screenwriting questions from Twitter. He talks about how to approach your second draft, how to perfect the art of intention and obstacle, how to write multi-faceted characters using empathy, and more.

Next up, Will Westwater got creative during LA lockdown and found 5 ways to improve your acting from home. Will highlights plays to read and movies to watch as performance research, ways you can improve your self-tape audition set up, writing your own content, and more.

As always here at Stage 32, we love to share stories and knowledge with our fellow film fans. Know someone who would love this content? Share it with them! Tag them below! Aaron Sorkin’s advice about second drafts came at a fortuitous time. I'm on draft two today. His advice to empathize with every character you write is a wonderful challenge. Will Westwater is right to suggest we all flatten the curve, hard as it is. Thanks for posting.

Like Will suggested, watching movies with scripts is very useful. It takes some time but it's worth it. The last scripts I studied with film were "Joker" and "Moonlight". Mr Sorking's ideas can be applied to this Sunday morning in real life. I have intention to have more coffee but my body is the obstacle (cause it's not ready to move yet). Let's see what  happens in this drama! Have a great Sunday and next week.

Sorkin, gems - pure gems. M*A*S*H When the movie came out, I was banned from watching, (the R-rating) I was supposed to be in bed when the re-runs were on, after the news. Like hell, I was going. Isn't it the longest tv show in re-runs history?
