About Chris
I'm the co-founder of the best movie analysis site, Film Colossus.
My co-founder and I created Film Colossus out of frustration with modern mainstream film criticism being so judgmental and lazy. It seems like national critics are constantly trying to prove they're better than the filmmakers. That upsets me. We focus on exploring films rather than displaying ego. To that end, we deliver a lot of strange content. Topics range from "How THE HOBBIT: THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG proves that Legolas is the Kobe Bryant of Middle Earth," to "Is Olaf from FROZEN gay and why it doesn't matter either way," to "Explaining the end of THE IDES OF MARCH".
Our unique content has lead to us being accredited press at Sundance, Slamdance, SXSW, Fantastic Fest, and Portland. Our festival content relies on "scouting reports" that steer clear of saying a movie is "good" or "bad" but rather discuss an aspect that makes a film worth watching.
I grew up in Canal Fulton, Ohio, just south of Cleveland. I've lived in Cleveland, Sydney, NYC, Asheville, Cedar Falls, and now Austin.
Ice cream makes me way too happy. And baseball. And wrestling.
In 2015, I published my first novel: Killer &Victim.
Austin is my favorite place ever.
