About Dylan

Screenwriter. I graduated from Pepperdine University in 2017 with a degree in Film Studies, emphasis in Production. At the time of my graduation, my professors awarded me with a Top Student Award in Film Studies based on the strength of my screenwriting. I've written screenplays for several short films and have a thorough understanding of how the various aspects of film craftsmanship work together to tell engaging stories. I also have served as a development intern and have experience with script coverage. In addition to this experience, I have also written several feature length screenplays and am striving to get them produced.

I am particularly fascinated by the philosophical, emotional, and transformative potential of cinema and believe it is the single best way to inspire others and blow their minds. After all, cinema is an intersection of many artistic mediums (art design, cinematography, sound design, music, acting, editing, literature) and can touch people through each of those domains -- and all of them at once.

I generally write introspective, character-driven films, and often work within the sci-fi, drama, and thriller genres. But I am not limited to those genres and tones; above all, I simply strive to write authentic and conscious screenplays that are both affecting and cerebral. The five screenplays I would most want to have written are the screenplays for Network, Blade Runner, Rashomon, The Lives of Others, and Lord of the Rings.

Unique traits: I tend to be careful, precise, and thorough, and deeply analyze the meaning and subtexts behind my story beats and character motivations. I also have extensive knowledge of Jungian psychology and the Myers-Briggs type indicator and utilize them to make my characters individualized and authentic, but also connected to universal human feeling.
