About Jaleesa
I am 1/3 founders of the newly created Students of Cinema (SOC) on Jackson State University's campus. I am a screenwriter, sound editor, editor, videographer, student, sound designer, filmmaker and photographer. I was recently nominated for sound design by KCACTF for my sound in JSU's productions of "A Raisin in the Sun" and "Wine in the Wilderness."
My goals are to graduate from Jackson State University, attend and graduate from film school, and eventually own my own production company and production house writing, directing, and producing my own films. I plan to accomplish all of this before I'm 40.
My colleagues and I created SOC after attending a two week film class with Actor/ Director Tim Reid. We learned the background of equipment as well as created a short film "If," I obtained the rolls of both Second Asst. Camera and Editor for the film. We enjoyed the experience so much we wanted to continue making films with fellow filmmakers, since there are no classes or organizations solely based on film on campus. We just recently completed our first independent short film: Consequences.
I plan to continue being involved with SOC as well as continue to help with the annual film fest that we are planning to put on every April. My colleagues and I have big plans for SOC and we do hope we are successful in this upcoming year with our projects.
