I have an MFA from the Bennington Writing Seminars, where I was an Assistant Fellow in Fiction. My story “Leota Fogg” placed in the Semi-Finals of the 2017 ScreenCraft Cinematic Short Story Contest. My rom com, "Everything But Love," placed in the Quarter-Finals of the Screencraft Comedy Competition in 2015. It also placed in the Semi-Finals in the 2014 Screenplay Festival in Los Angeles and was an Official Selection in the Beverly Hills Film Festival, 2014. My work placed in the Top Three of the 1-Minute Monologue Contest at Clay Banks Studio in LA, where excerpts of my play, "Everything But," are used in classes.
In April 2014, I was selected to perform at the Wyly Theater as a part of Oral Fixation, a story telling show akin to The Moth.
In 2012, "His Name is Bob," a film I co-directed/produced, debuted on The Documentary Channel. See for DVDs plus you can see it on Amazon Prime, Google Play, You Tube Movie Rentals and SnagFilms. It premiered at the USA Film Festival, Angelika Theater, April 30, 2010, in Dallas. Other fests: Hoboken International Film Fest. Vistas Film Fest at the Angelika in Dallas. Red Rock Film Fest in Utah. Fall Indie Fest, Grand Prairie, Texas. Mammoth Film Festival, Mammoth Lake, California. 2011 Houston International Film Fest - Platinum award for Best Short Doc. USA 41st Film Festival - Finalist for an Academy-qualified short program.
I co-wrote/directed a piece for Melanie Hutsell, (SNL. "Bridesmaids, "Transparent") and it was performed at the LA comedy venue "Sit 'N Spin" started by Jill Soloway ("Transparent"). My work shared the stage with Sarah Silverman and Scott Buck ("Dexter") that night.
My stories have been published in Cleaver, Louisiana Literature, Litro Online, Rumble Fish Quarterly, Red Fez, Deep South Magazine and Flash Fiction Magazine. I received an Honorable Mention from PEN Women for a short story and I was a resident at the Vermont Studio Center, where I studied with Barry Hannah.
In 1995, I had a play workshopped at the Tamarind Theater in Hollywood. I am a Founding member of Playwrights Project, 1990-97. It was a non-profit dedicated to new voices in the theater in the Southwest. Board members included Harvey Schmidt ("The Fantastiks") and Randy Perry (Undermain Theatre).
I am a graduate of Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.
