About Mark

I was born and raised in East Texas in the 60s and 70s, I developed a love for writing and for Universal Classic horror movies at an early age. I was writing short stories on an old Remington manual typewriter my grandfather gave me at 10 years old. I joined the Navy in 1980, and became a Navy Hospital Corpsman (FMF Warfare Specialist) and an IDC (Independent Duty Corpsman). I retired in May 2001.

My first project, DELIRIUM, got launched in 2005. I wrote, produced, directed, and edited, securing a worldwide DVD release in 2007. In 2008 when the market crashed the investors' money I had lined up for my next feature disappeared and sent my company into bankruptcy. I finally wrote and co-produced EARLY GRAVE in 2013.

2014 brought a Stage 4 Throat Cancer diagnosis. I was given a 23% chance of surviving 12 months. As I write this, I am 10 years in remission. So while I am quite the success story., I still deal with debilitating long-term effects of both the cancer, and the radiation/ chemo that killed my cancer.

In addition to DELIRIUM and EARLY GRAVE, I also had something to do with GHOSTLINE (2015) AND sold a suspense thriller, RESTITUTION, to Terror Films, Inc., an L.A.-based production company. The project is in post production now, with a 2024 release being eyed.

I also wrote the critically acclaimed vampire noir novel, NOCTURNAL(2017), followed by the award-winning (BookFest Fall 2023), BLOOD RED MOON. My latest, JUST BEFORE DAWN, a sequel to NOCTURNAL, hit the #1 spot on the Amazon bestseller list on Oct 26, 2023

I live quietly with my wife of many years in a small town in the Pacific Northwest. I write every day.

Unique traits: Low budget and micro-budget feature films. Horror, thriller, science fiction, action/ thriller, film noir. Having produced and directed in the past, I know how to write a script with a Producer's concerns in mind in regards to being able to break the script down for budgeting and scheduling purposes.
