Master Raktim Chanda, born in the lineage of music & art had inherited an innate affinity for classical music and dance. His latent talent was explored when he for the first time viewed a powerful dance performance of Smt. Sanjukta Banerjee in the appearance of Goddess Durga on Doordarshan on the auspicious occasion of Mahalaya. In this way his idol diva kindled the fire of dancing in him. He started his formal training of Bharatanatyam at an age of 12 at Saraswat Sanskriti Kendra of eminent Bharatanatyam exponent Smt. Anita Mallick, under the strict supervision & tender guidance of her able disciple Smt. Moutushi Das Dutta. He further enhanced his training at Chhanda Manjuri Dance Institution under the tutelage of Smt. Barnali Shome, a performing wing of Kalamandalam Kolkata. Presently, he attended a workshop of Smt. Deepa Sashindran, a kuchipudi exponent. He participated in the 4th Rukmini Devi Arundale International Dance Festival 2014 organised by Smt. Sarbani Ghosh in Kolkata. He is also associated with Smt. Swapna Rajendrakumar, a Mohiniyattam artist & disciple of Smt. Sunanda Nair. Recently he attended a Kuchipudi workshop of Smt. Srimayi Vempati organized by Kuchipudi Art Academy; Chennai. Presently he attended dual Bharatanatyam workshop of Acharya Anusuya Ghosh Banerjee & Smt. Utsa Ghosh Kundu; 2015. Presently, he is receiving training in Kalakshetra style of Bharatanatyam under Smt. Sujatha Ramalingam; an alumni of Kalakshetra Foundation, Chennai & the Artistic Director of Kalashrishti, Kolkata.
