About Shiva

In 2013 I sat in the director's chair for the first time ever for a werewolf feature. The film started out as just being an excuse for me to create a 100% practical werewolf transformation, but ended up becoming a much larger project than I ever expected. Since then I've directed several short films and regularly attend festivals with them. I currently have two features in development (and going on that ever-present search for financing) and have plans to put some shorts together as an anthology.

I'm also a practical effects artist with a lot of experience in both independent stage and screen work. Mostly weapons gags, blood, and "splatter" SPFX work. In a nutshell, I like to kill people and I've heard that I'm pretty good at it. I'm very old-school. I still say "slush" instead of "casting latex". I also have a background in wardrobe, makeup, fights/stunts, set dressing, and props... all of which has come in handy when working in SPFX.

When I'm not up to my eyeballs in blood and gore, I do quite a bit of writing. I have two produced features, a novel, many published articles, and a handful of produced short films as a writer. One of my current projects is novelizing some of my bigger-budget feature screenplays since I suspect that's the only way I'll be able to get my stories out to the masses.

Unique traits: Is highly organized and has a morbid sense of humour.
