About Urszula

I am an aspiring writer and screenwriter, with Polish mother-tongue, but speaking and writing fluently in English too.

I studied classical languages (Latin & Greek), literature and culture at University of Warsaw, and I finished my studies with master's thesis in 2002.

I used to work as an English-Polish translator (books on business topics) for few years, than I unexpectedly turned to IT field to do my living, but I have never quitted my plans and dreams about writing.

I attended four-years academic course about history of cinema ("Film Academy") held by Professor Jerzy Toeplitz, in years 1991-1995.

I completed professional courses on screenwriting in years 2010-2013 in Bahama Films: on writing shorts ('30" minutes), series (sitcom format) and full-feature films. As a result, I finished the courses with a short screenplay of thriller ("Homicide at one's hand reach') and with 4-episodes mini-series (it was planned to be a feature film, but it developed, as I wrote it) with adventurous, western-style plot set at the end of Iraqi war ('Baghdad's Echo'). Both scripts and their treatments are written in Polish, but I am planning to translate them into English.

I even sent "Baghdad's Echo' pilot for a contest held by one of private TV stations in Poland, and I have got a quite positive feedback, but my project was rejected due to its high costs of production.

In 2014 also completed a professional course on subtitling the movies (English-Polish translations again).

I have on my account also a fantasy book written at my youth ('Ogniak' - it can be translated as 'Man of Fire'), and since two years I am keeping my personal literary blog - www.ogniak.blog. So far in Polish, but I plan to post there some short stories in English in future as well.

Unique traits: Disciplined and reliable, when it comes to the writing, especially focused on the construction of the story, its turning points and climax, and on the vivid characters' portraits. Open-minded, keen on languages (I speak also French and Russian, I learnt Korean a little) interested in different cultures and religions. Cooperative and willing to share ideas and inspirations. With sense of humour :)
