Amy Baklini is an award-winning writer and filmmaker focused on telling stories about diverse, underdog characters beating the odds and coming into their own power. She is a graduate of UCLA’s Professional Screenwriting Program, and a selected participant in the ‘Start With 8 Hollywood’ program mentored under 'Better Call Saul' and 'Lord of the Rings' series EP and writer, Gennifer Hutchison.
Amy grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico as a competitive tennis player with hopes of receiving a scholarship. Life had other plans for her, though: In Amy’s junior year, her mother lost her battle with cancer, so she made the decision to step away from athletics and attend university close to home. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in theatre and has been working in the film industry ever since. She has worked in a variety of departments, both on set and in the office from PA to office manager, and from staff writer to creator/producer of her own content.
She reads scripts on a weekly basis and provides feedback and guidance to various industry professionals. She is also a member of Women of Color Unite and The FilmmakeHERS, both Los Angeles-based organizations for women (and women of color) in the industry.
