About Cheryl

WRITER:
Journalism: Former magazine editor; published writer and photographer; newspaper staffwriter; and currently work freelance.
Film industry: I've written a couple of scripts (thus far); short books; and I'm currently writing a novel. I have ideas for films, books and documentaries that fill several notebooks. My plan for 2017 (my year to really do what I want to do) is to complete my novel and take three ideas and write them into screenplays.

ACTRESS:
I'm a chameleon when it comes to acting--I become the part. Working drama, I'm not overly dramatic since I am grounded by my writing/journalism skills, but I am intensive and can cry on cue. I also have strong comedic skills with good timing, often in a straight-forward manner (which works well). I work well with everyone on- and off-set and I'm reliable, know my lines by the first time past hurry up and wait, and, most of all--I love it!
I've been involved in the film industry for more than 17 years. I work as an actress, a writer and an assistant make-up f/x artist, all of which I have working and credited experience.
I love working in the entertainment industry. If there's a project out there that I'd make a good fit for--within my multiple capacities ion the industry, please contact me and give me a shot. For an overall combination of what I do in one site, please see my LinkedIn Page at:

My main residence is in FL and my hometown is in Los Angeles, CA, which I visit often and where I hail from. I also am about5-6 hours from Atlanta, Ga and I visit my friend In Stanton Island frequently.
Thank you.

Unique traits: LOOKS: My dog is a Border Collie mix, a mutt, named Buster. Likewise, I'm Dutch, Polish, Russian, German and Filipino--also a mutt! My eyes are mainly brown with slight yellow, gold and green specs. I'm very thin (and not by choice). This helps my acting since I can pass as different nationalities for the right job. I have a fairly hairless body and change the color of my hair frequently, usually from light brownish-blonde to dark red to light blonde. The current color is medium reddish brown, shoulder length (I'm trying to let it grow out). I speak California Spanish (not too well ) and some Yiddish growing up in a Jewish family. I'm EXTREMELY flexible (doubled-jointed) and I enjoy outdoor activities, so I am in good shape. ACTING SKILLS/CAREER: My acting professors and teachers wanted me to drop my journalism major while in college and pursue an acting career, but I chose to stick with journalism. After college, I worked as a magazine editor for several different publications, and then I got married to a professional in the in film industry. I began taking acting course again and and now I am doing both--plus modeling. PERSONALITY: I'm easy-going, straight-forward and have an extremely dry humor sense-of-humor with great timing. I sometimes I'm making a crack and then wonder why people are laughing. I do very well acting in dramas, comedies, playing strange/odd characters and in thrillers. Not to brag, but I've been praised by my acting couches, directors and producers that I'm a goof actress. I very much enjoy working on films and television, both on set or on location. I get along well with people, and when called to set, I'm fully prepared. Note: I moved from LA after to Charlotte, NC, shortly after I got married. It was supposed to be the next big film state, but it went to Georgia after the NC Governor reneging on her 10% incentive. After five years in NC and doing a few movies there and overseas, my husband and I got separated and later divorced. In deciding where I'd like to go next, I gave FL a chance, which is where I have lived for the past couple of years. I visit LA often where my family still live, and Atlanta is a quick drive to an audition. I also have several friends there I can stay with in case a job works out I thank y'all here for reading this. --Cheryl Newman
