About Chloë

Screenwriter Chloë Bellande got her BA in Arts and Modern Languages from Concordia University, and took some intensive screenwriting workshops with script consultants from Los Angeles, California. Since 2008, she self-produced two feature films, “Battle of Souls” and “While the Village Sleeps,” and two shorts "Will Of Fortune" and "Searching For Paradise". Her movies won awards and were screened at the most prestigious film festivals in the circuit, including Cannes, HollyShorts, Hollywood Film Festival and Rhode Island International Film Festival. Chloë now resides in North Hollywood, after receiving a greencard for her "Extraordinary Ability in Film & TV".

  • Will of Fortune

    Will of Fortune (2014)
    Film (short) (Crime, Drama and Short) Writer Vence works for a group of vigilante who secretly meets to debate on the fate (or “will”) of their next target, a criminal whom they believe doesn’t deserve a second chance. Every episode is based on a real-life criminal story and thought provoking debates on equal rights. In the pilot, the subject is Susan Wright, 26 years old topless dancer who stabbed her husband to death with 193 wounds. Susan was abused by her husband, which adds a layer of circumstances that needs to be taken into account. However, the real question here is whether or not this case presents a gender bias issue? When it comes to double standards, should the justice system examine women’s cases with a different magnifying glass?

Upon his return, he reunites with his childhood friend Vince who grants him a room in his motel. During his stay, Daven becomes romantically involved with the motel bartender, Jennifer. As they grow in intimacy, Jennifer eventually reveals to Daven that she's been implicated in an accidental homicide and was forced to work as an escort as a result. To her dismay, Daven shows very little sympathy and blames Jennifer for allowing herself to be manipulated instead of alerting the authorities. Jennifer feels powerless and trapped, having no one to turn to but her friend Debby. Through a late-night discussion with her, Jennifer finds out that she'd been the sitting duck for a con artist that had been using the same ploy time and time again to trick innocent women into becoming prostitutes: he fabricated the crimes, made the ...
