I’m Connie. I’m a retired U.S. Air Force Officer and have spent the vast majority of my adult life analyzing and assessing the actions of the “bad guy” while wearing one type of uniform or another (e.g. flightsuit, BDUs, blues, business suit); I’ve lived a life that frequently left me amazed that “I’m actually doing this”, but after 25 years of the Air Force, I/we grew tired of the politics, traffic and chaos of life in Northern Virginia - Metro Washington, DC and moved to a ‘homestead’ in Missouri. Now that I’m here, I’ve quickly learned that although the quiet life has its perks--having hummingbirds dance at the feeders all summer or deer play in our field is pretty neat--I need more mental stimulus than I can find cleaning the chicken coop, working in the yard & garden, or renovating, so I’ve decided to seriously pursue my love for words, literature and writing in the hope of beginning a new life chapter. I have a BS in Biology and English, an MS in Strategic Intelligence, and an MA in English - Creative Writing and Screenwriting.
Stories have bounced around inside my head throughout my life, but I’ve never had the confidence to do anything about them. I’m hoping the experience of writing a full-feature screenplay will dial-up my confidence level so I can do something I’ve always wanted to do...call myself a writer.
During my summer vacation, beyond getting a pedicure, putting together a 1000-piece puzzle, coming in second to my husband in an index-class drag (truck) race, attending a summer concert of ‘90s bands, and mourning the loss of my alpha hen to a hawk, I’ve been working to improve my skills and improve my screenplay Hell’s Zookeeper (Logline below). I love being surprised by the evolution of my characters as a story progresses and discovering the changes that present themselves as I define the important, logical plot elements
Condemned to Hell, a woman is content to live out her eternity as a demon-underling zookeeper in Hell’s zoo, but her humanity complicates her comfortable existence.
