Dan Maurer is a screenwriter, author, and award-winning theater director. He penned the Amazon bestselling novella "Snow Day", now being adapted into a screenplay. Dan also co-wrote the script "Richthofen: Legend of the Red Baron", which is a top ranked screenplay on The Black List website. The work also received Second Round honors in both the Academy Nicholl Fellowship and Austin Film Festival Screenwriting competitions, and was named a Quarter-Finalist in the Final Draft Big Break Screenwriting Contest.
His other screenwriting work includes co-writing the feature-length fantasy "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" (Quarter-Finalist, Final Draft) and the romantic comedy treatment "Royalty & Me", based on a concept by Producer David Foster ("Hart's War", "The Thing", "Mask of Zorro"). He is a member of International Thriller Writers, Inc.
Before becoming a writer, Dan enjoyed a successful career in trade book publishing. After graduating from East Carolina University, he spent a combined six years at both Doubleday and Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. While there, Dan was part of a team that brought many notable books to market including John Grisham's "The Firm", Richard Price's "Clockers", and Jim Lovell and Jeffrey Kluger's "Lost Moon", which became the Ron Howard film "Apollo 13".
Dan has also achieved success in live theater. He served for ten years as a producer and director on the board of an acclaimed New Jersey theater company. He co-produced over 25 plays and musicals, and his directing credits include productions such as "Driving Miss Daisy", "Hollywood Arms", and "Elton John & Tim Rice's AIDA". He has won several awards for his producing, directing and sound design.
