About Derek

My name is Derek Dean, and I’m in the storytelling business. I’ve worked around the world in films, plays, pilots, shorts, and commercials. I've been fortunate enough to be apart of award-winning films such as Half Brothers, and award-winning plays such as, A Soldier's Play.

My first novel “Placebo Effect” is sold on Amazon. The second, “Stem Cells” is being shopped around by literary agents, and the third “What Was Once Called War” is being adapted into a Graphic novel.

My play “Before The End” debuted off-off-Broadway at The Hudson Guild Theater. “Five Days Until Frankfurt” is doing festival/contest circuits and sitting in the back pocket of Mindme films for funding.

“Coupled.” A relationship drama is heading to Berlin and hopefully California in 2019 pending theaters. “Unsung, Unsingable Love Songs” is being tinkered with as a film, pending budgets, and availability.

Outside of that world, I’m a photographer and an occasional stand-up comedian.

Unique traits: Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Boxing, Wrestling, Leaving politics out of it.
