Internet Senior Producer Developed and produced short documentary content for online distribution, as well as supportive content for Showtime series Dark Net. Work included short docs, short-form social video, 360 videos, and high-profile political coverage. Directed editors, videographers, and animators. Worked with Audience team to craft video distribution strategies and review analytics of video platforms, including Facebook and YouTube. Left position to uphold journalistic principles, returned to Wall Street Journal.

The Wall Street Journal (2014 - 2016)
Internet Senior Video Journalist Researched and produced original news videos on topics including cybersecurity, cryptocurrency, and digital privacy. Regularly directed and collaborated with reporters, videographers, animators, and editors. Work included short docs, high-profile interviews, and concert series, as well as pieces on tech, military, and infrastructure. Position required strict adherence to WSJ's journalistic ethics and ability to meet rigid deadlines while working both independently and across teams.

Mashable Video (2012 - 2014)
Internet by Mashable Video Production Manager Oversaw the writing, production and editing of short non-fiction videos for distribution to Mashable's million-strong audience. Work included long-form investigative reporting, news and political features, and original comedy series. Position required direction of animators, camera operators, and editors, as well as celebrity guests. Grew video department from one to 10-man team, and contributed to video distribution strategy, with particular focus on the YouTube ecosystem. Night Agency, LLC (2011)
Internet Videographer/Editor Filmed/edited commercial and promotional videos at digital interactive advertising firm. Man-on-the-street shoots often required excellent production with minimal notice or planning, making the edit that much more challenging. Sensitive nature of work and clients meant extreme discretion, even among interviewees and participants. Edits required excellent musical sensibilities. Sixty second test spot was named “best piece of video to ever come out of this office” by founder.

Documentary (Music) Producer/Videographer/Editor Served as the lead producer on the cross-country tour of folk-rock musician Abigail Washburn as she promoted her album, City of Refuge

Hiccup Media (2011)
Music Associate Producer Oversaw production and editing of short-form ad content of major brands for online distribution. Coordinated with editors, animators (on- and off-site), and clients on difficult schedules. Managed assets across multiple parties, including studios, brands, ad agencies, and designers. Booked crews and locations, participated in creative pre-production, generated script concepts, boards, and script revisions. Position required active knowledge of Avid workflow and technical capabilities, as well as perception management in client interactions.

Jet Set Zero (2009 - 2011)
Internet (Adventure) Producer/Videographer/Editor Served as the lead crew member behind travel web-series shot in Vietnam, Ecuador, and Thailand. Handled production budgets, scheduling, travel arrangements, equipment management, and more. Filmed in challenging situations, including while mountain climbing, on horseback, and on motorbike. As Editor, mapped out series arc and assembled episodes for online delivery, often working out of make-shift editing bays in cabins, apartments, hostels, and hotels. 2012 Webby Award Nominee, Travel & Adventure Video. 2011 Webby Award Nominee, Travel & Adventure Video.

Vice (2008 - 2009)
Internet (Documentary) Production Associate Assisted in the branding and design of VBS.TV website. Conceived of and advocated for the need to move away from VBS brand and create vertical branding outlets Motherboard, Creator's Project, and others, while folding other videos back into the Vice brand. Oversaw the move of video content onto other, co-branded platforms. Other duties included supportive roles in editing, hiring, and legal matters. Quality of work hinged on the ability to maintain good judgement in trying circumstances. Gained intimate knowledge of legal necessities for sale of digital media across platforms, as well as insights into music licensing, advertising, and digital workflow management across multiple parties.

Current TV (2008)
Film Student Executive Producer Produced, shot, and edited short non-fiction content for air in over 50 million homes. Worked to increase exposure on college campuses, participated in strategy and planning to grow the young network. Production required coordination with supervisors on opposite coasts. Work included solar car road trip documentary Chasing the Light, anarchist-embedded report Lockbox, and short doc Tased and Confused, in which I was shot by a taser on camera.
