We are a seeking a documentary editor and documentary producer for a feature-length documentary titled "Invisible Children." This is a film that chronicles the lives of three orphaned and homeless children in Malawi, the poorest country in the world. International residents are eligible to apply.
Picture a highly intelligent 11-year-old girl who lives alone in a dilapidated house. There’s no roof, so when it rains, she gets wet. When she needs water to drink or to have a bath, she ventures down to a waterhole animals utilise. Picture a sweet 10-year-old boy (he both his mother and brother) who sleeps in an abandoned market that is plagued by prowling adult delinquents. Men who beat him, rob him, rape him. Picture an alcoholic, chain-smoking 14-year-old boy who uses legal and illegal drugs to escape the reality of his life on the streets. That is what this documentary is. Ninety-minutes of raw verite.
I will be serving as Producer/Director. Right now we are in the process of raising funds for Production and Post-Production. I'm seeking a documentary Producer to help with raising funds and coordinating the project (from production all the way to release). And we are also seeking a highly capable editor to see us through Post.
Using our own funds, we have currently shot around seven hours worth of footage. That footage has been edited down to a 20 minute sample. I will be posting the sample on vimeo in the coming week. This sample is available to anyone who applies, as I realise pictures speak louder than words.
I feel like this is a story that needs to be told and I will do my hardest to make sure it is.
